I was hoping you would write a how to on improving model horses plus the painting and finishing techniques you use.

OK,I will see what I can do.

The biggest clue is though....no war this time.

Yep after a hard day’s plowing I often miss my mouth too. Excellent figure Jerry, I’d thought the redcoats might be a-comin’ but you’ve leaked that they’re still 10+ years away - presumably it's somewhere in New England anyway? Reminds me of happy days strolling round Williamsburg in stifling heat as a (small) kid in July ‘63 (missing my mouth there too, with melting ice cream) - talk about time warp.

Damn fine work, Jerry. I was guessing colonial America, and you verified.

Great use of flowing water. I think I saw another application of that method in another of your projects. Awesome.

Did you scratch build the figure?

Jim

Thanks mucho Jim!
Yes,I have used water something along this line before. On my last dio. I "sort of"scratchbuilt both figgies. This one began from a Miniart guy with limbs moved around and re-puttied plus hands, feet and head from Hornet. They both ended up looking nothing like the componant parts so is it scratchbuilt or not? I dunno.

Jerry, looking really good so far-- missing the bucket though, (which I'm sure you'll add)--and I'd love to see the full plow-- those early curved blade, long handled earth splitters were really works of art in themselves, can't wait to see your rendition.

I think everyone needs to corral their impulses before this whole thing goes to horse hockey... and it will be too late to close the gate after the horse is out of the barn... I know my jokes are shoddy but without traces of humor where would be be? Up the Roman highway without a chariot?

Okay now that I have got that out of my system...

Great work, Jerry. I leave here for 6 months and this is what kind of horsing around I come back to...

I missed you guys and girls.

I love it, Jerry. Great scene, great figure. Now if you need a bunch of angry dwarfs give me a PM
These are on the workbench to fill my first Fantasy-build.

Here's an overview of the scene.

To show how getting bogged down in detail can consume a lot of time. Here is the result of a good 3 or more hours work. Hope it looks like it was worth it?

And almost finished with paint, but still needing the water added.

So....maybe 4 hours all together when done?
Standard paint bottle included to show scale.

To me, the details are the best part of the hobby.

Looks great Jerry. I bet the horse (or the planter) can already taste that water.

Two buckets...and a yoke for carrying...hmmm is the farmer's wife going to follow? Not being sexist here-- but the farmer has already been plowing-- somebody has to carry that water!--or maybe a small boy or girl?
