Update on the Centurion. Build almost complete apart from towropes, jerry cans etc and given a coat of clear, Wathering next.

Some inspiration for weathering of this era vehicle. First one is an early unmodified vehicle. The second one, has the turret basket, reinforced tool boxes (the tubular pieces), etc.

Miniart T-54 progress:

Interior is lightly weathered and buttoned up. I have no plans to do an exploded view. I already have 25 to 30 hrs into it thus far. These full interior kits are an adventure.

Certainly worth the effort you put in Ken. Looks fantastic.

Tanks have been primed.

I'm now at the "rolling" chassis phase of my T-54 build. Almost every part of this kit is over-engineered. After some marathon building sessions this weekend, I'm going to have to take a break for awhile.

Igor: you have a miniature of your miniature! Nice work.

Ken: the T-54 looks awesome. Shame all that awesome interior will be covered up.

Quick update. I managed to assemble the T-62 during my Christmas vacation and Im currently in the painting process.

These other builds going on are excellent, cant wait to see more.

There is some preshade on tank so I can proceed with camo which is going to be three tone.

First camo colour sprayed on T 80 U.


T 80 UK has been hand painted because I was to slack to use masking putty and airbrush.

Green colour has been applied.
It seems darker then expected.

Basic camouflage completed.
Next step is clear coat and filter.

Guys, the 'Russkie Brigade' are all looking great. Nice variety in finishes.

I'm a little late to the party. I'll be building Trumpeter's M1a1/a2 Abrams 5-in-1 kit. The kit comes with parts to build either an A1, A2, or Panther II. It comes with the mine plow and mine roller. I've got a couple of Abrams' that I might be gifting the plow and mine roller to.

The Trumpeter kit is a little old. It has 2000 stamped on the lower hull. There is a good bit of flash, but the detailing is pretty good on alot of it, but a bit soft on others. It comes with rubberband and length & link tracks

I'll be building mine as the A2. I'll probably build it OOB with a few additions from the spares. I'll probably go with the sand/white winter scheme. I don't think it's what-if, but if so...let me know and I'll go with overall sand.




I started off with the lower hull. The suspension arms' fit is very tight. I had to open some a bit. The arms aren't keyed, but there are location studs on the hull that the arms lock in to. So, you could modify them to demonstrate the variable suspension.
The wheels are two-piece, but Trumpeter has polycap style wheel hubs. The detail is pretty good and the inspection deals look pretty nice.
As mentioned above, there's a lot of flash that needs to be cleaned up.



Anyway, that's it for now.

Thought I'd better keep the British and Commonwealth end up here so I'm calling this one done. All comments welcome.

Alex, - good luck with the Trumpeter Abrams. If you like torture, you found the right kit for the job. I have one I'm trying to finish for the Unfinished Business 2019 campaign. I started it back around 2002 and did all the corrections to make it more accurate (reworked the turret ring and turret armor plates).

Well here is my entry for the MBT Campaign,it's a British army Challenger 1 (mk3).

as you can see the box is open and the parts are still sealed in their bags and there is today's newspaper behind them for a date and time stamp.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm not going to try to fix any of the problems. I just don't have the time or patience for that right now...especially with the better Abrams kits that are out there. If it wasn't for this campaign I probably would have kitbashed it in to a what-if.

I picked this one up a couple years ago for the mine roller. This was a good bit cheaper than buying their mine roller separately. I've got some other Abrams tanks built up that I might use the plow and mine roller on.

Right! I've made a decision and started applying glue to a model. There are already a couple of M60s in this campaign, so I'm going with door number 2 (or is it 3? I've lost count.):



I was very excited about this one when it was announced as I wasn't looking forward to wrestling with the Tamiya kit and the rather rough conversion kit I had. My son bought it for me for my birthday soon after release and in the stash it has sat. Time to get going!



After a couple of hours researching it on line and going through Tom Cromwell's build, here's where I am:



As you can see, I'm taking Tom's suggestion regarding the configuration of early 2c return rollers, namely that they used the 5 roller hull and simply didn't drill out for two of them. His logic seemed sound to me!

Let's see if I can stick with this one. I have a good book to read about it, in any event!

ok so i have started work on the Challenger from Tamiya and i have done some preliminary work on the under carriage... i mean road wheels as well as add the supports for the armoured side skirts. so i have completed the first 2 stages of a 24 stage build.
