Does anyone have a ballpark idea about the postage costs from France to the US?
Their site only says at cost but doesn’t have a calculator. Don’t want to submit my CC until I know what to expect

From personal experience I would strongly suggest you not do business with them. Very poor customer service if there is a problem with your order. Little or no response to inquiries. I'm not the only one who has a very negative opinion of Azimut, not by a long shot. Al

My best advice is TO STAY AS FAR WAY AS YOU CAN FROM THEM!!!!!!!There are plenty of other older posts that will warn you that these people are nothing more than a scam operation.Yes,you can send them your money but you will NEVER see what you ordered.Just trust me on this.

I have been to Azimuth in Paris. In his defense, I would say the slow speed in which he responds is probably due to outdated methods more than anything else. His shop is full of boxes, inventory which needs to be entered and put on shelves. Purchase receipts are hand written. His accounting seems to also be by hand. If you order, you must be patient. Also, if you are ordering resin, be aware that if he is out of stock, he, or his supplier, will wait for additional orders in order to justify producing another batch. A colleague of mine has ordered things from him in the past, and was satisfied with the service and delivery time.

The last, and of course final, time I ordered from Azimut it took me 18 months of phone calls and e-mails to finally get something delivered. I got most of what I had ordered and had to substitute some items with others to get up to the amount I had already paid.

Whenever I see something made by Azimut that I really really want to have I convince myself that there is plenty of other kits out there waiting to get built.
All that hassle is simply not worth it.
They only way I would buy from Azimut again is by doing it face to face, my hand on the goods before I hand over cash.

Do not waste your money or time on this man or his shop. He is a thief.
If you want to throw money away, give it to charity, don't give it to him.

I placed an order back in 2012, and having ordered before I knew how long they could take.
The money was taken within a day or so. I'm still waiting for my stuff, or a full refund.

Correspondence has all been one way. He's a con-artist. I know I'm not the only one he's ripped of either.
I wouldn't mind so much if the stuff didn't come but he hadn't taken the money... I'd have lost nothing but a few minutes of my time, but he took the money straight away.
For the record, my order is still marked "en attente de livraison" (I just checked...)

This is fairly common in France, certainly where I live. It's no excuse. If it were, all companies operating the same way would have the same reputation, but they don't. It's him. He plays on his "status" as a designer and producer of some interesting stuff, and of course he does fulfill orders placed by some of the more prominent names within the hobby, BUT I'm afraid with all due respect for every post supporting him and excusing him, it improves his chance to gain more victims. Nothing personal you understand.

I genuinely hope I cross paths with him one day...

Cheers

Sean

i've ordered from Azimut in the past. Postage is calculated on the cost of the item. Service and delivery time was better with newer items, just added to the catalog. I ordered two of the French jeep sets & got them within two weeks of the release date. Older items took about a month. I would definitely recommend messaging them about availability and postage prior to ordering.

I ordered from Azimut a couple of times and had no problems. I ordered some resin G4 Mercedes wheels and something else. I was satisfied with the service. I must have been the exception rather than the rule. I had a chance to buy some Azimut stuff first hand while I was in Paris many years ago. I should have done it. Azimut makes some very interesting conversion kits. Too bad he doesn't move into the 21st century with his shipping software and procedures.

When we were all in the previous century, and millenium, and everything was done by fax, paper mail and possibly phone he had a well established reputation of slow deliveries.
He was slow then and hasn't accelerated at all.
I used to get what I wanted via a dealer in England who used to meet Azimuts owner at various exhibitions et.c.

Good morning,

we just visited the 2018 modelling event in Saumur with our modelling club (MBC Camouflage) from Germany. For the first time I had the chance to personally get to know "famous" French producers such as Azimut. I always had a soft spot for his resin conversions but hearing about his problems with customer service I only buy directly on such events. I only pay after checking the parts/contents of a certain kit/conversion so I haven't had any problems up to now.

Sorry, I know this doesn't help you in the US! I just wanted to show that we have the same problem with AZIMUT on/in continental Europe. Even French customers have the same problem. Somehow his reputation doesn't seem to bother him.

By the way, I've never had problems with other French companies such as BLAST or others, so this certainly isn't a typical French problem. I wouldn't trust all German producers either.

Regards,

Mark

Concur with advice given above, echoed on severel UK sites previously....

I've bought Blast & Azimut off Ebay or direct at the SMT Nationals, UK, which isn't much help to you.

My usual go to's are Scale Link UK or Hannants UK

But Neither are listing Azimut or Blast!

Even BLAST France aren't listing Azimut.

If you still have to buy direct, make sure you use as credit card & make sure you make a named delivery date a condition of sale.

Maybe Resicast have it? very reliable
