Hey Tim welcome – seriously, first dio?? Incredible, you should see mine…well you can’t because I destroyed it, whereas yours would be a contender at any show. I can’t really fault it, looks great – well OK it’s too cramped on the base but maybe you have a storage issue. Many have had initial probs posting images, I sure did - happy to email you screenshots of how I do it (might not be standard procedure but my son helped me out & it works) if you’re still baffled.

Cheers, Tim

ps so what’s next?

Thanks. I appreciate your feedback on the base dimensions, that's the kind of input I'm looking for. Like everyone else I've got a stack of kits. I'm not sure what's next, but my "dream" project would be a cross section of portions of a couple of floors and the stairwell at the Stalingrad grain elevator, with the Germans sneaking up the stairs and the soviets tucked in waiting for the attack. Dunno, maybe it's already been done...

Sorry if I missed anyone, I do appreciate the welcoming and compliments. I'm actually pretty critical of my work, and wasn't going to post anything. But my wife insisted, and as usual, she was right! I'm going to post some other just model photos in the Gallery, then I'll have to figure out external servers. Thanks again!

Welcome aboard

The personal gallery here at Armorama is rather small so you will fill it up pretty fast.
One option is imgur, I use it without problems.
Just make sure that the uploaded photos are not the only copies, in case something happens ...
Photobucket decided that they wanted money for that which used to be for free and now there are a lot of posts in many blogs and forums across the internet where the shown image is a sign by Photobucket telling the user to pay to make the images visible again. The words 'hostage' and 'ransom' comes to mind ....
Not sure if sharing with the whole wide world works with Google photo ....

For what it’s worth .... After the great Photobucket image ransom demand, I moved my base to imgur and have been happily linking from there ever since. The platform is very user friendly as well. HTH.

Cheers!🍺

Great looking diorama! I especially like your composition and overall feel of the setting/action. For feedback next go I would look at maybe having more churnned up ground, and then integrate the vehicle into that mud/ground work to convey more weight. Still, as it is this a fantastic presentation and your photography skills are top notch!

Great work on this diorama. I have been modeling for over 40 years and have never built a diorama. I wanted to...but when I was young and didn't have the skills and now I don't have the time.
It is very convincing and your photography is top notch. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. GREAT JOB!

Yeah, I kept running across those Photobucket icons where a picture should be so I looked it up. $400 a year!!?? That's crazy! Imgur has been mentioned several times so I'm going to check it out.

Thanks for the feedback, and I absolutely agree. I didn't feel like shelling out the bucks for ready made mud, and I wanted to try a home brew, so I used real backyard dirt, dried and ground, mixed with Hyplar matte gesso with some retarder added. Looks good, but not much working time. Probably should have carved out ruts in the underlayment. Any suggestions on a slower drying medium?
