I am really excited about this one...well I was.

I was hoping they would have some more up to date decals/markings, esp. for the sand version. The sand 1CAV 21FA markings are from an M270 from Operation Desert Storm ('90-'91), not a more modern M270A1. To be correct with those markings, it should not have the TC's hand rail up top, no HALON boxes on the sides of the cab, should have the older triangle block tracks, and some internal cab diferences (radios and fire control panel). Also, these are the same decals in Dragon's old M270 kit from the mid-'90s. No idea what the camo decals are supposed to represent either.

Come on Trumpeter, can't you get a little more accurate with your decals??? At least have black stenciling for the sand vehicle.

Looks like home-made decals unless someone comes out w/some better decals.

Gino, the camouflaged codes most likely are South Dakota National Guard 1 147 field artillery (MLRS)

Maybe, but it is backwards if that is the case. The decal reads 147 1 F, not 1-147 FA or 1F147, etc...

I know. At first I thought it could be 1I 1F7 for the first of the seventh artillery but-- It's an anagram of 1F147 or 1 147F.

The proper order probably got lost in translation like so many bumper codes decals.

Well,
I'll survive if the only faults are in the decals
Aftermarket will probably come to the rescue long before I get around to building this.

Yup, that is what I figure too. Some of their earlier decal translation errors have been good too.

For some reason, the manufacturers consider a large number of parts for the assembly to be a measure of high-quality detailing.) Although this often leads only to an increase in the time of the assembly process, sometimes it comes to absurdity and idiocy. It would be better to devote more time to authenticity.
It would be interesting to see the British version with slat armor someday, it looks very spectacular and aggressive.

Is this kit actually available anywhere? I checked my regular sources and didn't see it.

Scalehobbyist has the German version and the Finnish version... at $90!! Wow lol. I didn't think they were going to run that much.

It does appear that way. I'm waiting to see what the price is on the US version before buying one or the other.

the German version is the same price as the Finnish,so most likely this too will be the same price. considering decals have to be bought for this version...might as well use the Finnish release lol

Or made myself, but yes, that is the way I am leaning as well, but I am not in a hurry; way too many kits to do now before I buy another M270A1. I can wait and see.

There is at least one other difference, the rocket pods are different the other versions have different rockets.

Cheers Rob.

It depends on which version you are talking about.

The German MARS (01046) version has German-specific pods and end caps. It also has many other German-specific parts that will not allow you to build a US version out of the box nor easily with parts from another (Dragon's) MLRS model or non-existant AM parts.

Both the Netherlands/Finland version and the US version have standard M26 rocket pod end caps.

Netherlands/Finland M270/A1 version (01047) pod end cap sprue

US M270/A1 version (01049) pod end cap sprue

So, yes, the Netherlands/Finland and US versions are the same except for decals.

I seen on Trumpeters FB page that this is available now. Anybody have any idea where to search? I search all the US online stores and HLJ.

That just means Trumpeter has released them. Give them probably a week to hit the Asian suppliers and a couple weeks to be available at US suppliers.

Just got mine today
Crazy price for this kit any other 1/35 kit this size and I wouldn't have spent the money. If Trumpeter charges this kind of price all the time I will just stick to Tamiya and Meng in the future.
