So i have recieved a few early xmas gifts (from myself). I am planning on making a pacific theater WW2 Australian Matilda in action with diggers along side. In the Tamiya Matilda box i have Australian decals, slouch hats and heads from Firestorm, photo etch and photo etch Psp!. In the white box is Firestorm's Matilda Conversion. Great casting as always.

Looking forward to see how this one plays out. I know a lot of our boys came back from the Desert Campaign to fight the Japanese in the Pacific, but I'm not sure the relevance of their clothing in that box, for the SWPA. Happy to stand corrected

I hope everyone is having a great break this time of year. I myself am working everyday. Not complaining at all though, my weekend job involves driving the Aussie Bushmaster variant- the Fireking.

So in a moment of downtime at home i have managed to make a start with the lower chassis. Let me say its great to be making a Tamiya kit again-it has such a nice fit and goes together so easily! No pics just yet.

So after reviving this one from the stash i have built up the matilda with the excellent resin parts from Firestorm Models and P.E psp rear deck from Eduard. Just a question regarding exhaust colour, what colour would have the exhaust been at the rear of the tank? I have seen some period pics that make it very hard to tell. Not sure if its a black or natural metal colour or an olive drab distorted by the heat? Anyone in the know have a better idea?

Nice work Nick, look forward to seeing it with some paint on. May I ask a question, I have seen photos of this Matilda restoration:

I have never heard of, or seen a picture of a Matilda mounting a .30 browning. Have you, or is this just fiction on the part of the present owner?

Hi John, out of all my reference pics i have never seen a .30 cal mounted to the roof of any pacific serving Australian Matildas....not to say it never happened though.

I have just primed it and let it dry for a few days.
