These specific versions of the Tiger have been covered by, basically, everybody. I don't see why you would buy a Trumpeter version instead of the others. Can anyone explain?

David

I have Tiger kits by DML, Cyber Hobby (I know also DML), Tamiya, Academy,Rye Field Models, and Italeri (ugh). I do not have a Trumpeter kit and will probably get one. I guess the only way to explain it is to compare it to beer....lot's of breweries produce Oktoberfest beer (at least here in the States). Even if one get's a bad review I am still going to try it for myself to see if I like it. Same with these Trumpeter Tigers...I am going to try one and see for myself. Variety is the spice of life! Cheers!

It doesn't take anybody, other than those people so overly obsessed with every detail of every version, to understand why Trumpeter are releasing Tigers and not basing them on versions that haven't been done before.

Tigers sold by other manufacturers don't put money into Trumpeters bank account so knowing the popularity of this tank they've decided to get some of that money.

They are obviously not bothered that the versions they intend putting out has been done before, and probably the same goes for the vast majority of folks buying this kit as well.

I would say looking a Trumpeters kit range, seeing that they will model several variants of a particular tank, armoured vehicle etc. then there is every possibility Trumpeter will release versions not seen before. Time will tell.

David, someone on another thread said you are advising Trumpeter on these kits. If that's true, it would prick my interest, but if not, then I fear this is the usual "let's muddle through" Trumpeter team getting no outside help.

I don't think he is consulting technically; he just threw out a couple of FB comments regarding the tow lug flanges and spurious parts in other kits.

No need to be a jerk. I'm just posting my opinion and its' imminent release. Oh, and a: it's Trumpeter and b: it's a Tiger.

How is he being a jerk? it's the truth, and an honest question. You're the jerk with a reply like that...defensive much?

Jim

I originally missed what people were upset, with. I had no intention of implying that Trumpeter would be better, simply because it is "Trumpeter". So, his response rubbed me the wrong way. To be honest, it wasn't until several other posts that I figured it out. Actually, I'm a fan of Dragon. But, I have kits from several manufacturers.

Oh, no, I am not formally advising Trumpeter. I do advise Dragon thoroughly (and they do listen) but no other big firm has approached me. There are some aftermarket outfits that asked me about specific items.

I think your comment covers the story quite well. I guess we tend to forget, that we (us here at the forums and modelling communities) are at the very most only the very small tip of a huge iceberg called "customer". Those companies are most obviously not so much interested in getting this ONE version done that few crave but selling a whole lot of kits to all those convenience modellers with second to zero effort to put in... I mean all that shows on every corner of the hobby: re-releases, molds sold to other companies, shared projects etc. (Just get the story of the RSO as a straight example of how that works all out)

So I guess that's why they are bringing out those kits. And people buying them simply don't know too much about the differences in single tanks or versions (original and model world). I mean I consider myself having at least some basic knowledge about that stuff and still if Trumpeter is releasing a decent enough kit for a fair price I could imagine buying it without even knowing that all the others did exactly the same version... Just to build the first Tiger of my modelling career
(okay, not entirely true since I have the RFM Bergetiger in my stash somewhere)

Anyway whether u are a panzer nut or a shermie addict, the panthers and tigers are sure to sell, opening up revenue streams for other projects.

Depending on how well these kits are received I have room in the collection for another late Tiger.
