Well, that actually might help me out as the weather has been very rainy and humid and my work space is not climate-controlled.

Hi,
so if the campaign is prolonged by one month maybe I'll be able to start and even... finish my entry
... which is 2017 release kit no.6870-03 1:35th scale IJA Type 97 Chi-Ha early production medium tank.

Here are the pics of "unspoiled" kit:

Well i'm calling this one done...at last!

the person that was sending me the replacement tracks let me down and i had to order some more which finally arrived these were the fruil ones but they have arrived to late so i had to use my masterclub track links instead.

if anyone is looking for a set of ASSEMBLED 1/35 fruil tracks then PM me as i'm looking to sell them on.

so scraping in just under the wire is my Dragon Shilka, i've added some pictures in the gallery.

Lap Man,

Very nice work. I hear that this kit can be quite the pain to assemble. Again very nice.

David,

Nice finish, digging the paint work and weathering. Sorry about your issues with getting after market tracks.

Hey, I'm trapped inside your post!

Hi, sorry for that, wasn't intentional

Update #1

All assembly except track is finished now and model is ready to be primed. Here's picture how it looks like:

Very nice kit with classicaly confusing instructions of Dragon
As for details they're crisp! Main cannon barrel has the thread inside visible and machine guns don't need any drilling as there's a tiny little hole moulded!

Some details:

As for instructions they were very misleading in rear part which resulted in ... a huge gap I made between bottom and upper rear engine cover

Unfortunately one part is supposed to be glued at beginning of assembly while other a long later. So the mistake could not be fixed anymore by dissasembling elements.
I used the "styrene putty" (rest of styrene moulds dilluted in glue) followed by CA . Looks ugly, but I'll leave it..
Here's the pic of filled gap:

Ok, that's all for now, next priming (probably canned finishing surfacer 1500).

Cheers,
Radek

Current state:

Green laid down. Will have the red-brown done tomorrow night. This is meant to represent a vehicle from the reformed 21st Panzer stationed in Normandy, but is not 100% factual as it is only possible one of the short-barrel Pz. IV's they had may have been an F-series.

As I don't plan on heavy weathering until I decide on a display, the tank will be a replacement vehicle that has recently been painted in the camo colors by the crew. Some of the gear was left on and painted over.

So, the markings, a filter to blend stuff, and some minor weathering and touch-ups and she'll be done.

Second color. Ready for markings, attaching of exhaust, touching up and mild weathering, and she will be done. Then I can start my Ostwind for the Anti-Aircraft campaign.

Nice progress guys!

Update #2

九七式中戦車 チハ Kyūnana-shiki chū-sensha Chi-ha got colours finally. Primed first with canned finishing surfacer 1500 and then followed instructions for the colours (I lightened them up a little bit). I must say I don't like the outcome of those two brown-ish colours that were given by Dragon. They don't seem right. Also Dragon's colour scheme wasn't very good in quality, missing right & top profile of tank and inconsistency in painting guidance on other sides forced me to improvise. For sake of my building mojo I will not complain nor correct anything. Now straight forward to gloss coating and decals

But some images first:

Thanks, Mark.

Colourful it is , it will look a little less boring next to rather dull panzer greys, olive drabs or 4BOs

Okay, this is as far as I am taking her until I decide if I want to build a base or not. Very moderate weathering using a Vallejo European Dust wash to blend the camo, silver pencil on the suspension, and some minor chipping along some areas. This is to be a recently repainted Ausf F sent to Normandy as one of the short-barrel Pzkpfw IV's assigned to the 21st PzDiv. May or may not have been any Ausf F's, but there were some short barrels there from what I've read. Who is to say?

Now off to complete my entry for the Anti-Aircraft campaign!

Slowly making progress on the Kubelwagen.

My plan is to cover the dunkelgrau with a RAL 8000/8020 scheme and place it in southern Russia during 1942.
