Finally finished the vehicle, so here's where I call the campaign done, with the figures going into the unfinished project bin as I try to figure out that camo.

I just can't seem to get this camo for the uniforms, so I'm thinking of just finishing the vehicle. Vision is part of the issue, as is the crazy irregular pattern. This is where I'm at with my latest attempt. Way off in proportion of colors, etc.

Haven't updated since May. Here is my progress since then.

Base coat, decals, clear coat and pin wash are down. There is a small amount of silvering on the decals which I havent been able to get rid of. I am hoping another coat of clear will help.

Decals are from Star Decals and is for a vehicle of the South African 6th Armoured Division in Italy 1945.

Still have weathering, stowage and the TC to do.

I've finished my M4A1 75mm (kit 6048), it is an easy build with not problems, including the DS tracks. I wanted to do a light weathering to save time, since this will be presented at my local IPMS meeting this month. Comments and critiques are welcome, this isn't my best work, but I believe it is good enough. Thanks for looking.

Some work in progress pics, clear coat and decals are applied. The colors used are Tamiya Olive Drab and a mix of Tamiya Desert Yellow and Buff. This is a super enjoyable and easy kit, that is, for a Dragon kit.

Some progress on mine: filters + pin wash + dunkelgelb chipping + general chipping + flat coat. Now its time for some dirt and grime on fighting platform.

Hi everyone. I'm in with Dragon's Stug III G initial production. This will be the second Dragon kit I have ever build (the first is built but not painted yet). Really looking forward to the build and campaign.

I've learned my lesson when it comes to over complicating a build, my OT-34 with PE and resin proved to be too much for me. So alas I had to shelve it for a while.

I'd like to enter a new model instead, Dragon 6048 M4A1 75mm Early Version. This is much simpler and nerve racking. I'm sorry for the inconvenience mods of this campaign.

Basecoat + camo on.

I have added engine cover panels, and driver gear shift lever. I have also decided to put some camo on fighting platform, as it stands out too much otherwise.

Here is my entry for this Campaign: 1:700 USS Spruance DD-963, Dragon # 7084. Have not built anything in awhile, so this one will be OOB, skipping PE for this one.

Finished with my entry for this group, Dragon kit #6854; IJA Type 4 Light Tank "KE-NU".

I decided to make this one look brand new right out of the paint shop with no weathering. This tank wasn't produce until very late 1944 - early 1945 and most of them were kept in the home islands in preparation of the expect invasion by the allies.
So I doubt if this vehicle got much use with the shortage of fuel that was being felt within the empire.

This one was a fun build, no fit issues and even the DS tracks were long enough to get the proper sag in them while the vehicle was stopped.

Off to the next group build.

Mark

Alex, the model is great. Strange camouflage. How did he achieve it? It's interesting.
Rory, a very good job. The model looks impressive.

The Firefly is built. I had originally wanted to do this OOB except for the tracks but after looking at the 17lb'er barrel I opted to get an aftermarket one.

Kit was fairly straight forward to build. Had some issues with the photo etch since it was done in steel and was very hard to bent and keep in shape but I got there in the end.

Did some minor modifications. I added a weld seem to the cheek armour, the machine gun plug and to the box added to the back of the turret. I also scratch built a rack on the front of the tank for stowage.

I will be doing this in the markings and colours of the South African 6th Armoured Division which was operating in Italy.

Suspension has been built but isn't shown in the picture. I will be adding after painting.

Update on the Sd.Kfz 250.

Assembly is mostly done. The figure is added for size comparison.

For the paint, I went with base dark yellow. The kit comes with PE doors for the stowage boxes. They are okay, but the thickness doesn't help give the recessed handles any depth. And if you pose them open you will still have to scratch up the inner latchworks.

I added the second color...olive green...using a stiff brush. Drybrushed and a light wash.
The kit's markings are both for vehicles from SS Wiking in Hungary. I plan on using this for something else so I used vehicle numbers for an Army vehicle that I found in the decals spares box.

And I'm calling this one done. It wasn't a bad build. It wasn't a great build. Fit was tricky and were cumulative due to the many hull sections. Other problems can be overcome fairly easily. The tracks aren't as bad as you would think. The detail is pretty good and there's room for more additions. That said, I'm glad to be done with it.

I plan on using my SdKfz250 as part of another project. I'll probably add some more gear and figures for that.

Calling this one done. decided to do something different and take the final pictures with a 4 man Infantry set I finished recently. I plan to fill the hatches with crew figures at a later date.

Richard,

I have to ask...how did you hollow out those guide horns and how long did it take. You work looks spot on, so I would like to give it a try.

Mark

Tool of choice was a 0.9mm drill bit and the tracks took 4 evenings at a couple of hours each time. It was very tedious, but I'm in no hurry with this. I drilled them out on the sprue and then cleaned up with my trusty Stanley knife.

My entry will be a 1/35 Sherman Firefly VC done almost 100% OOB though I have opted to use aftermarket AFV Club Tracks.
