I've heard some people use this to make some decent looking mud.

Anyone have a link to a video showing how to do this? or any hints of their own they'd like to share?

Pretty easy really, instead of mixing with water like normal plaster, just mix in thinned Acrylic paint, colors of your choice. I prefer the types of Acrylic paints purchased at craft stores, but I've seen it done with brown shades of powdered tempera paints as well. Apply with an old brush or spatula. Be careful to make the mixture darker, as it will lighten when it dries. You can expereiment with small amounts until you are comfortable with the mixture.

I use this for all my bases. I used to add earth coloured paint to it but was using too much.now i use paint and coloured pigments. I pour the plaster, shaping it as needed. Very easy to work with. Great for sinking tanks in. Here is one of my latest bases

i mix the plaster with water and cheap acrilyc pait but for add some more texture i add some fine sand

in my case, instead of using plaster I use Talcum Powder mixed with paint. I get very good results.

When I make my mud I used Plaster and Cheap acrylic paint out of a tube with water, I also add loose leaf tea as it gives it body and texture, a bit of coffee granules does'nt go amiss either..

Then with stones pushed into it and some of that self adhesive grass tufts... voila..
