anyone know how they were setup on a Mk5 turret mid 50's? some pix have them 2 fore/aft port side with 1 next to the gunners sight housing, while other pix not having that one mounted. thx

I think you will find that the forward one is an extra used in command tanks (RHQ), as they carried an extra set.

thx, yeah that would make sense. might fill that one in. now, if I could only be sure of the other 2, and if those blanked over are used instead

In that period the 19 set might well be fitted, so there would be one (4ft sections) mounted on a vaguely conical rubber base and a 20" one on a short stalk, possibly with an inverted conical frame guard. The 19 set was standard in late WW2 so if your pics of Cent have bases that look like that, you need two.

Larkspur came in in the mid 50s in the RAC so that's the other possibility.

thx. seeing as how the kit had Larkspur bases, I went with that, or at least I think they are, which fits the timeline

Sounds good. Usual aerial was an 8ft whip, from two 4ft sections.
