I have an old t-shirt stapled to the edge of my workbench and I lay the loose end on my lap. Works great to ketch these small pieces.

I use to put under the bench one of those big plastic trays that originally are designed for the trunk of your car.
It will collect all the things that drop from the bench and as a positive side effect to keep your "bare" feet not in direct touch with the cold floor (i'm living in the North of Italy).

Never hurts to poke around the trash after vacuuming. I just found a very small part after it was MIA for at least a month! 😄

You could always attach the bottom of an apron to the edge of your bench. Simply slip it on, when beginning another build session.

I know most of you old timers already know this, but I just had to retrieve a part so I thought I'd post this.
If you lose a part to the Carpet Monster and simply can't find it, here's what to do. Source a piece of stocking or panty hose from your SO. Rubber band it over the end of the vacuum hose. Sweep the vacuum everywhere, and you'll find the part stuck to the stocking on the end of the hose.
Best,
Matt
