Peter and Gaz: thanks for the encouragement, although I must confess the idea for the straps was not original to me, but I can’t remember where I heard it.

Robin: good idea for the mold. Thanks.

Happy Modeling,

Worked up some of the stowage on the SAS Jeep with some strapping. For the straps I made a sandwich of two layers of Tamiya tape with aluminum foil in between. In the future, I think I will use a more adhesive tape, as I had some de-lamination as I bent it around.

Happy Modeling!
Zon

This is starting to come along really nicely! I look forward to the finished result.

Zon - Nice work on the straps, definitely making a note of that technique.

I managed to add most of the decals and some exterior details to the ACV.

Nathan,

Nice work. Really like the paint work. I hope you don't weather it to heavy.

Nathan. Great paint job. What kind of masking tape did you use?

Thanks guys, but the camera phone does a nice job of hiding the silvering decals. I used Tamiya masking tape. It is a great kit. At least one of these captured vehicles made it to Tunisia. If Gary does a sequel, that would be another opportunity to build it.

Rommel's Afrika Korp captured and used three. Two were named Max and Moritz. Over on PMMS Terry Ashley reviewed a decals sheet for both, with some additional info

I posted some colour pics of Max earlier in the thread

Here are some others

Nate, In the future, and if you’re so inclined, Dragon’s (6723) ‘Rommel and Staff, North Africa 1942’ (4 figures) would be an excellent addition to your beauty of a build.

Cheers!🍺

Missed you on Saturday Gaz. Hope you picked up some bargains.

How did you miss me, I was the largest one there??

Looked for ya, cuz I heard you were there, but never saw ya.

Didn't buy any armor, but did get a couple of OOP Wingnut Wings kits.

I kept an eye out for you, but a lot of people there. Remember I'm only 5.5 foot tall, so everyone is taller than me and it is like looking through a forest.

No armour? Okay, I just won't tell anyone from the club

Glad you picked up something that interested you. A lot of older kits for sale, as usual, but I picked up some more recent ones at bargain prices.

Catch you next Saturday

See ya then.

Aloha All,

MrClark: very nice paint job.

Put on a bit more stowage and started the figures, which needed a lot of clean up work. I'm hesitant to go further with the figures as their hands interact with parts of the car. Otherwise, I think I'm finally ready to start painting.

Scratched the line from the condenser to the radiator with the wire from a twistee tie.

Looking good Kelly and Zon

I have all but finished the main paint work and just need to finish the figures so I can add them. I have to work out how to upload pics to my son's laptop. My PC has the dread Microsoft windows update issue - auto updated and now can do nothing from the desktop screen!

Wish me luck. I leave for OS Saturday night and will need to update pics to make sure I meet the deadline before I leave.
