Not to be too critical (and you,yourself, admitted the weathering was a little overdone), the weathering and chipping is well done, but a bit much for a tank that was factory-fresh just a month before. Added to that, the spring or early summer clothing of the civilian figures, a better setting could have been a warmer season post-war, with a rusting relic being visited by locals and some occupying US forces. Masterbox makes a figure set, I think it's called "Checkpoint", with civilian figures dressed in winter clothing - nice big image from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/262119072425 .
