Tom, good to see everything coming along - can't wait to see yours done.

Linus, good work on your AMX, nice camo work and tasteful weathering.

Well, I'm calling my Gepard done:

Inspired by the snowy/rainy/sleety weather here in the last few weeks, I was attempting a muddy and wet look with (mostly) melted snow and rain effects (certainly not a happy kitty!)

Happy building up to the deadline, everybody,

Jerry

Tom, great to see some paint down. Looking very nice indeed.

Linus, Love the AMX. Not often we see Venezuelan vehicles modelled. Occasionally a Venezuelan model, not a Venezuelan err model ... well, you get the idea

Jerry Great to see the Gepard finished. Suitably muddy. Love the ice effect where snow packed in tight places

Finally got some airbrush time in on mine. It took far longer to paint this scheme than I thought.

Need to pin wash, add decals, seal with a satin primer finish the tracks, then add the episcopes and assemble the sub components. Hope a week will give me time.

Teaser Pic

Used some AK Africa Korp Filter thinned to give a slight variation to the yellow and give it an orange tinge, which is bleached out on the side and top in the pic and looks too orange in places. It really is more of a deeper yellow with a subtle tinge.

Also the skirts and around the lower turret, the yellow was lightened further with white as on the real vehicle. The filter took away the effect though

I have to be careful with the pin wash as being a very clean demonstrator vehicle, it will be hard not to overdo it to pop some details.

Jerry, that wintery mud is spot-on! Gives me the chills just looking at it...

Pete, I just love that leopard-skin camo - it could hide in the local disco! . I've got plans for a Leopard 2 in a similar scheme.

I've been painting details on my build, but holiday feasting has interrupted and robbed me of table-space, so no photos until at least Tuesday...

Happy Holidays everybody!

Reposting my sequence of pics as I was done just before Photobucket went down and deleted that account.

Takom 2023 12.8cm Flak 40 Zwilling. Pretty much OOB except a few data plates from an Archer set. The kit was not a smooth build; anyone familiar with the kit knows there are fit issues but in the end it builds up pretty impressive looking. I didn't do much with the base as I have plans to build a display based on a flak tower.

Final product:

Dustin, Peter, and Tom, thanks a lot, glad you like it!

Peter, good to see progress on your Gepard, that cheetah-y finish looks like a painstaking ordeal - great job.

Shell, that is impressive. Are you going to scratchbuild the flak tower for that?

I wish everybody Happy Holidays!

Jerry

Ahhh -- takes me back to my mis-spent youth!

I've been busy over the break, and my beast is cooked. Weathering is slight, mostly just road dust on a fresh delivery, in keeping with the lack of markings or stowage seen in trials pics.

The interior really sets it off, but I wish I'd had more info on the gunner's area - it is far too visible through all those open hatches! (And the plastic hatch fillers with Gator's Grip worked out well - a light scoring of the joint to let the water through, and they popped off with no real drama. Phew!)

It's been a great Campaign, made greater because I actually finished something! Thanks!

(Off now to upload pics in the Campaign gallery...)

Looks fantastic Tom. A great addition to the collection.

Glad the Gator's Grip theory worked for you.

Thanks for joining in.

Tom, excellent beast! The contrast between your interior and all that olive drab really sets it off, very cool. And I might have to steal your Gator‘s Grip idea for a future build.

And Mr. K, your KrAZ is shaping up, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Very nice K. I really like that.

My Gepard is finished except the front hull separated overnight, so now glued down with a few books holding everything down

Wife is booking my sons holiday on our PC so I am iPad ing this. Let's see if I can work out how to do pics from this.

I hoped that worked as I just see a box. Might have to wait until I can access the PC

I guess it didn't work

Well here is my finished build. Not too dirty, given the model depicts the special demonstration vehicle. I have to do something to break up the monotone though.

To avoid Trademark issues, Takom played around with the names a bit. The 3 large letters needed to be cut apart and the 'K' and one 'M' rotated and the first letters of the names underneath also cut out and rotated. This then matches the real vehicle. The Takom decals:

My Humble effort.
Rear end with the specific markings for this vehicle.

The eye catching Cheetah decal. This required some careful application of Micro set and Micro Sol to get it to sit flat on the curve, but worth the effort.

A few more pics in the Gallery if you are interested.

Peter, your Gepard looks fabulous! Good to see it done considering what happened with the tracks.

Mr. K, very cool KrAZ - your ability to toss off high-quality builds plus paint and finishing in a few days never ceases to amaze!

Thanks a lot for the great campaign everybody and thank you for the ribbons, John.

Take care and have a great 2018,

Jerry

Colin. You may need to petition the Campaign Administrator John Pereira as the award ribbons have already been issued to finishing participants

The ZSU looks great by the way.
