What type of AK paint did you buy? They have ones labelled "airbrush & brush". Others are come in sets but no "airbrush" labelling...must be made for brush? It could also be your equipment..airbrush..cheap or expensive...moisture trap..etc...
Anyway,I never used them but I read they are similar to Lifecolor.Smell them...does the paint smell like latex house paint? Thats what lifecolor smells like...latex paint. Latex sprays like sh*t to begin with.
Try thining with distilled water..maybe even "hot/warm" water. Some even use windex.
High pressure also comes into mind. You can thin them with their own brand of thinner if AK makes any? Thin the heck out of it till you can spray it with low pressure but remember to use multiple coats.
This type of paint is a pain in the butt that's why I stay with Tamiya acrylic ..heck with everything else. If these companies could duplicate Tamiya's product then we wouldn't have to be wasting our money & fighting with these products.
I heard AK has bought their own machines now & run their own production, they use to rely on others to produce their paint. So what your getting now from them seem's to be Research & Development product lol. My 3 cents.
AK is also known for labeling errors....check out this video.

Check out this video...lol 2014 Can you believe this? After having your trouble.....

I heard they use to use Vallejo production line so here's a video explaining how to thin them.

I use them and usually fill almost full the brand new tube with thinner. Try 1,5 bar. It works for me but sometimes I have the same flow problem.

by the sound of it thinners in paint have spilt from pigment. You need to put a small ballbearing in the pot and shake like mad or if you have one put on top air brush cleaning machine for 10 minutes.

then thin down using Vallejo Airbrush flow improver

How much air pressure are you using? you could be using to much air pressure and drying the paint in the airbrush. Do you strip down the airbrush and clean it completely after each use?

thanks all for your replies !

yes i clean totally my airbrush after each color

I'm running my pressure between 1 and 1.5 bar on my MIG production airbrush (like an iwata). Tried all thinners i could : AK native one, water, even lacquer thinner and no success : flows, then stops, then does a big splat ... without changing anything on pressure or paint debit.

will try the ball bearings in the jars to see if it adds something.

but first i have to remove the camo coats off my vbl

Thin your paint with Mr Colour Levelling thinner.... will change your life. Works well with AMMO paints as well (or at least it used to). Just remember, you are adding chemicals to the paint though, so it will have a smell and behave differently with oil washes etc. Always seal it up with a decent acrylic gloss. Hope that helps you.

Throw them in the bin, realy. AK Interactive are the worst acrylics ever. Different viscosity, different finish (grainy, shiny, matte) very often suspicious color shades. Stick with MIG, Vallejo or whatever. Just my 2C.

I've had great success with AK Interactive paints, and they are same paint as Vallejo and Mig Ammo. Mig Jimenez worked for Vallejo Calleja, President and owner of AK-Interactive and Vallejo until Mig was fired back in 2013. Mig broke off on his on and started Mig Ammo. Vallejo, and Mig Ammo are all manufactured by Vallejo, which is a large fine arts manufacturer in Spain. So its all the same paint with different colors and finishes. And I believe its the best genuine acrylic paints available.

Do you have this problem with only AK paints? It still sounds like you have a blockage in your airbrush. Or there are paint solids clogging the flow if your getting splats.

Sorry but is a common mistake,Fernando Vallejo Calleja is President and owner of AK-Interactive but is not related or any family connection with Alex Vallejo the owner of Vallejo paits they have only the same surname and nothing else...Vallejo in spain is very common like Smith for UK/USA....

Dear Irvin, i need no lesson who worked for whom when, moreover it has nothing to to with the paints as such. And no, AK Interactive did'nt use the same reciepes as MIG Ammo or Vallejo and as such are not comparable in any way.

Hey Fellas

You may want to try the new line of Mission Models acrylic paint. They are fine art grade and will not clog your airbrush. The paint sprays and finishes like a lacquer and is unlike any paint on the market. 100% acrylic and the primers are ultra smooth. With these paints minimal thinner is needed 2-3 drops thinner to 10 drops paint plus 2-3 drops poly mix additive ( optional ) but highly recommended. There is no struggle with Mission Models paint and you will never receive a bad bottle that has hard settled. missionmodelsus.com or Facebook www.facebook.com/missionmodelsus/ Check it out. Jon

Jon,

I saw your new paint and will be trying it. The web site is impressive. I see you sell silent air compressors. I have a 20A that needs servicing, do you have any info or help as to how I can have it done?
