With my Tiger1 (Mid) diorama finished up, I've moved my efforts to getting my Tamiya PzKpfw IIIL (Afrika Korp) diorama completed also. Managed to finish up the figures over the weekend, and get the base ready. Still have some details to get done on the Pz III and a couple more items for the diorama. Hope to have it all together soon as I'd like to get my PzKpfw Tiger B (Porsche turret) completed also.
Thanks Gary for get this great Campaign idea going. It's been a real motivation for getting caught up, and me back into the joy of the Hobby.

Karl, love the interior detail work, remind me what kit that is. I hope to tackle an aircraft interior scratch build someday, and yours is some serious motivation.

Thank you, sir. This is the Heller 1/72 scale Amiot 143 French bomber. It has been challenging, to say the least! I've done a bit more with it over the last few days, but time is short and the going is slow. I've added oxygen tanks, ammunition racks, photography equipment, and the foremost gondola floor. Next up; Instrumentation, the aft gondola radio and machine gun installations, and the forward gondola and turret machine gun positions.

Karl that is some amazing work you are doing there.

Well here are the results of my first go at painting vinyl treads.
So these look like ether t56e1 or t74 treads which if I understand correctly are steal and rubber composite tracks.

Started off airbrushing them with hull red, which I now think might have been a little to heavy on the red side rather and needed a bit more brown. then painted the middle pads black and then went back and dry brushed on metallic aluminum enamel on then chevrons and sides (did not have any steel) matte coated the treads and then used Mig Track wash on them.

For a first try I think they look alright, certainly better then the unpainted treads. Might have needed a little bit more on the metallic and I think next time might skip the hull red/brown first coat and go with just a black. I was however amazed how the Track wash really helped and will definitely be using it again although I might thin it out a little bit more next time as I think it went on a little to thick in parts.

Mike D, how is that build for how the glass is fitting? I am wanting to do a heli but worry on glass fit looking bad.

I went to hobby lobby tonight and was able to find some sequins to try and see if it would work out for optics. Seems to be better than anything else I have tried. Its basically like the clear plastic that comes inside the kit. So after eyeballing the size, the rest was sanded down to make fit.

The material is reflective and throws a color and slightly has a gradient color look.

A bit of progress here. I put putty on the seam along the rear of the turret. This is the first work I've done on the kit since May 31.

Kelly,
The glass on the Panda Uh1D was a drop fit. The pilot door glass sits behind the framing, but unless it is a contest build it is not too noticeable (and MANY other issues will need to be addressed in that case.)

MUCH better than other 1/35 helos.

The MRC OH58 I built had TERRIBLE instrument coaming/windshield fit, the DML OH6 family is notorious for the glass fit, and the MRC vinyl feed chutes will melt the unbagged clear parts in long term shelf tests (ask me how I know)

I'm declaring this one finished. My goal was to complete a shelf queen and make her into a passable shelf model. I believe I have accomplished this. Tamiya's built as a representative of an M60A1, USMC, MCAGCC, 29 Palms, CA.

I will be adding the distinctive exhaust staining next time I bring out the AB. I just didn't feel that today.

AgentG -

Definitely more than passable and really nice job of rescuing a 'shelf queen'. Good clean build and especially like the camo job. Should occupy an honored spot on your shelf. Thanks for sharing,

Thank you all.

I'm having difficulty in uploading a photo to the gallery. I keep receiving a message stating the page is not working.

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

;( that what bums me out about so many heli models.

Todays work was trading out the glass that look so bad with the included plastic sheeting. I am liking this new idea I am trying. i think I will be doing all my models this way for now on. As I have multiple shade of colors for reflecting.

Here you can see a drill bit placed in front.

Finished up the "Afrika Korp" diorama. A Tamiya PzKpfw IIIL with TAHK and Jaguar figures. Now freed up to complete goal of getting a couple more static builds finished. Have a Tamiya King Tiger (Porsche turret) and a Tamiya JagdPanther (Late) that I'd like to get done. Another Campaign starting soon so will have a full plate (best kind to have though). Thanks for looking.

I may not be able to complete this campaign. While I was out of town, my mom managed not just to break the barrel, but to partially tear the barrel off. I say "partially", because it looks torn. It did not snap, as I suspected it would. While I will build another, I just can justify budgeting a replacement kit. Happy building.
