painting was conducted in the following order

1. very thin white enamel under-coat

2. very thin grey/black over-coat

3. vary thin base color, Vallejo IDF color

the model was left for 1 hour to dry, then the third layer (the base color) was diluted with scotch whisky to soften the layer, then scratched with the fine tip of a needle and mini brush

this technique is to mimic scratch depth

next is a layer of clear in order to isolate all previous colors, this way the weathering phase can take place over the clear layer and prevent capillary movement blending of the first 3 layers with the weathering washes

enjoy

Thanks Guilbert, looking forward to see them.
First time I come across using scotch whisky during modelling (other than consuming, which can have a pretty negative effect on the results anyway...) - was it blended or single malt?

hi,

once the weathering colors have dried, I will tone it down to a bare minimum with a brush, this way the residue will not seem bulky on the 1/35 scale

also, the upper and most exposed areas to light will be highlighted by use of the same base color, but with a slightly lighter color, paint will be very diluted and by adding a few drops of yellow and white (ratio: 2 drops yellow - 5 drops white)

you all have a nice weekend

cheers friends
