note the additional armor on the belly of the last vehicle,

This "Sherman" based mobile observation post utilized a 27m long "Eyal" crane. It was used along the eastern banks of the Suez Canal during the "War of Attrition" between '70-'73.

...and yet another one: the letter "Lamed" (L) on the rear indicates that this turretless "Sherman" variant was used for driver training.

Another "Sherman" based IDF oddity: "Shrike" air-to-ground anti-radar missile modified for ground-launch on M51 platform. These vehicles were operated by IAF's 153rd AA battalion.

One of two preserved examples at the IAF museum in Hatzerim.

A beautiful, rather artistic collection of "Merkava II" photos taken by the professional photographer, Noam Garmiza. Enjoy!

for some reason I cant see the images

can you please repost , please

Hi Guilbert,
I can also see the posted images without problems.
BUT
I can not see Your avatar image, it turns up as the icon used for a broken image link.
Maybe there is some setting in your browser or PC which blocks the image links ? I don't think any ad-blocker would cause this but there are settings in the browsers controlling if the browser is allowed to admit content from other sites.
Have you blocked some sites in your router or browser ?
The image labeled "Oh cr#$, dropped my lighter..." is stored at Photobucket so if the browser or something else stops content from Photobucket you will not see that image.

Hello Nikos,

thanks for adding to the thread, and great photos, too.

here's a couple I've found recently...

M113 with 30mm remote turret, and Spike NLOS

and, for you AAA freaks,

I'll look for some more if there is any interest...

Tiran tanks with ERA:

Urugay, I think, purchased some of them and you can search for photos of those tanks if you are interested in building a model.

Thanks for the info. I'm amazed (and baffled) at the complexity of the family tree of some of these IDF vehicles. The number of conversions, updates and variations are overwhelming but make for some striking models.

Great....thanks to this thread there a dozen new projects I want to embark on.

Reluctant Renegade or Kylie, any additional info on the Achzarit with the guardrail pics you posted on pages 2 and 3? Time frame, location etc.? It's an early version?

I'm about 90% finished with Meng's Achzarit Late and with Meng's guardrail set in the stash this would definitely make for something different.

Seriously though, thanks to all the contributors, this really is a great thread....even if it is going to make my wallet a bit lighter.

Thanks Sherb, I'm glad you like the thread. As a matter of fact, even me myself is surprised by the amount of interesting stuff I'm finding while browsing the net for more pictures.
As for the "Achzarit", it's equipped with the original T-55 roadwheels, so I believe it's an early version.
A few members of this forum approached me asking for more pictures of the guardrail/water canister equipped one, but unfortunately I don't have any. I'll upload them here as soon as I find some more. As for the time frame, the picture was taken in the summer of 2006, during the Second Lebanon War.
Cheers,
Israel
