Welcome to the “Name This Ship and Win One in 1/700 Resin” Contest! Model Shipwrights, along with our good friend at Battlefleet Models, are pleased to present a fun little contest for members of the Model Shipwrights Forum and the KitMaker Network to participate in.

The Rules Are Simple

1. You must accurately name the ship, and its designation, shown in the photograph below. (example ATF-95 Zuni)
2. Be the first person with the correct answer and win the kit. (kit will be released July 29, 2016)

There can be only one winner in this contest. All entrants must be a KitMaker Network Member. The winner of the contest will have the contest prize kit sent directly to them from Battlefleet Models. Any and all rules are subject to change by the KitMaker Network and or Battlefleet Models without notice. Prize shipment will be dependent upon availability of the new kit; in this case, projected release of this new kit is slated for July 29, 2016. Delivery of this prize will be after this date contingent upon manufacturer's actual release date. Any and all questions regarding this contest should be directed to the Editor in Chief of Model Shipwrights.

Let the guessing begin!!

Thank You For Playing Along!!

Certainly not an easy guess Brian! We might have to wait for a possible clue to help things along!

Is there only one try at guessing or unlimited number of tries?

You may try guessing as many times as you like Rade.

So far this looks like a modified C3 transport (I checked on the Battlefleet models website and there is one to be published - marked with asterisk in catalogue), as a repair ship of I would guess Delta class (either USS Delta AR-9 or USS Briareus AR-12). So this would be my try at guessing.

Addendum: AR-9 was first commissioned as SS Hawaiian Packer, while AR-12 was commissioned as SS Hawaiian Planter

Hi,

No, not a C3

This new kit is not announced on my site.

Yes, all the parts are in the correct position.

Please keep trying.

MY initial reaction was that of a converted T-2 Tanker or oiler but the stern would have had to be more built up. The super structure arrangement is very unique... so much so that I cannot find any auxiliary supply ships of WW II vintage that carried the lines. My focus has become on ammunition supply ships, attack support ships, and possibly a vietnam war riverine mobile support base..... having a ton of fun looking at pictures to find the closest ones though

Was it perhaps USS Alchiba after redesignation to attack cargo ship AKA-6?
After the WWII she became Dutch and later Singaporean vessel, and since there is this kit in offer already (although as AK-23) there would be little upgrading to the already existing kit...

It is a fun idea Fred! A little birdie let me know we could see a few more of these little contests over the coming months! Not too easy to figure out though! LOL!! But racking the brain and trying to guess is all part of that fun! Harry did give us one clue so far above and we have some guesses that can eliminate a couple ships so far! Not much to go on, but it is something!

If this is not Argone, then I would guess it is USS Chaumont (AP-5) before being converted to hospital ship USS Samaritan (AH-10).
