Congratulations on completing your Ferdinand! It looks great! Nothing wrong with light weathering at all. I'm curious about the big red square at the back. I'd never seen that before (I've only built the Tamiya Ferd circa 1980's). Some kind of identification marking?

Red was the colour of the 2nd Kompanie of sPzAbt 653. This vehicle is supposed to be from the 3rd platoon of the 2nd company though now I feel dragon wrongly made me add the small red square in the top left corner. And well, what to do

Raj-Great work. I like the light weathering approach-I would think they were fairly new machines at Kursk. I have the same model, do you have any final pointers?

Thank you for your kind words

I believe this particular vehicle lasted a week at the front, so I was trying a dusty finish of a tank operating in a dusty theatre. I'll probably return to the kit to add some polished steel to the track face.

Regarding the kit, it fell together without too much of fuss. My comments:

1. Only enough wire to make one tow cable. And that wire is about 1.5-2 cm too long.

2. I had to trim about a mm from the the fenders to get a good fit. The front inner side of each. Now this could be due to operator error as well.

3. My kit had about 5 missing L type magic track. Thankfully 115 is just enough to finish the kit.

That's about it. Looking forward to see you work your magic with this kit.

Lovely builds here, I'm envious. So my Jaguar made it to completion. It's a simple build with the only difficulty being choosing the type of sight:

I'dve liked to use the large one, but then the commander's MG points off and fouls the hatch.


I almost wanted to not apply the rest of the camo as it looked more interesting like this.




So there it is, my first attempt at a modern subject. Not weathered as I want it just to be a type representative (also the truly rubbery tracks worried me as to how they would react to solvents).

FV215b Vanquisher

In reality only a "wooden mock-up on a Conqueror chassis", here imagined as an operational vehicle!

Carrying markings suggesting it is part of the 7th Armoured Brigade, this brand-new addition to the British Army's Tank Destroyer arsenal is called the FV215b Vanquisher, a name that will strike fear into all her adverseries!

Based on the very solid Conquerer heavy tank chassis, the FV215b Vanquisher is armed with an enormous 183mm main gun. After such a whopper, the smoke grenade launchers, .50 cal and .30 cal MG secondary armaments hardly seem worth mentioning. Operationally, the sheer size of the 183mm shells would have meant a less-than-stellar rate of fire, so a first-round hit is highly desirable - and extremely deadly!

That is a heck of a large gun....

Fantastic job! I love the look of the Vanquisher! Imagine what the North African campaign would have been like had the Brits not carried on with that 2-pounder for so long. Congrats on finishing!

Thank you for making this a great campaign! It was a pleasure for me to organize it for such an enthusiastic and talented group of model builders.

Here is my completed build of the Dragon JSU-122. I still need to do the weathering, which I will do when I build the base for it. Otherwise, the model is finished, but for a few tweaks. Thanks for a good campaign and a reason to complete a model that I have been meaning to build for a while.
