Yes it was very enjoyable, a very beautiful part of the world. Maybe because it is very different to Australia we liked it so much. Nice to see so much green instead of our usual brown grasses where we live.

It was hot and humid and riding the bicycle up a 18% slope in 35 degree Celsius heat was a challenge.

We hope to get back next year to do the Dalmatian Coast ride.

Now I need to get started on my scratch build project

Some recent scratchbuilding and conversion from me(time to revive this thread).

2 weeks ago I bought a resin GAZ-63(basic chassy) kit from CustomFactory.
While the kit was on the way to my doorstep, I combed the internet, looking for modelling subject/inspiration.

My first intention was to convert the GAZ-63 into a radio truck and I collected some information on the box body and equipment.

And then one day, while having the morning coffee, I came across this subject:

DDA-53A(Decontamination and Shower Vehicle), based on GAZ-63 truck.

Bang!
It was love at first sight!

Some in-progress pictures follow:
Construction of truck:

Platform and boiler/heat exchanger:

Piping:

To be continued soon,

Decontamination chambers and chimney ready:

There are still some small details to be added(hand grips and hooks).
Doors of rear chamber are hinged and closing.

Next wll be the nice "tree" of pipes and handwheels.

Thanks Todd!

The DDA-53 is basically ready, except for few things I am expecting delivery of:
-Abers Hand Wheels set 1. Need more than 15 hand wheels for this build alone,
- 3 parts from CustomFactory, that were missing when the kit arrived, to finish the truck.

Will post next pictures soon.

Thanks Peter,Mike!

While idling on the GAZ-63 DDA(still expecting those missing/ordered parts to arrive) I was given a pair of sprues from Ark Models PAK 43.
They contain the parts for both trolleys used to transport the gun-among others set of fenders.

I dusted off the Sd.Anh.104 I started almost 2 year ago and tried to file the fenders to shape:

I added the tires Mike sent me:

Sd.Anh.104 looks pretty decent, I must admit

Next I started thinking: What I will use the Sd.Anh.104 for?

I have Amusing Hobby's Wuerzburg - OOB it can only be built as stationary radar.
Adding a set of Sd.Anh.104 trolleys will convert it to a nice load to haul.
I checked the Sd.Anh.104 frame vs. the frame of the Wuerzburg and the match was perfect!

But I also have a RRH(Ringtrichter-Richtungshoerer) I started constructing 2 years ago:

This build came to abrupt end when I hit a snag with the fenders of Sd.Anh.104.

Using FIFO principles, I picked the most challenging part of the RRH- the listening device (the Ringtrichter) and started calculating, drawing and cutting:

This is where I am now:

Need to do another side template and then we'll see

Really nice work Angel. Not an easy subject at all. I'm a bit dubious about the 'Bratz' notebook though... Hmmm

Thanks Peter!

Bratz paper cube is from the childhood of my bigger daughter.
She not only made me grandpa 2 years ago, but also gave me permission to use both her ex-room(my modelling room now) and all the Bratz sheets available.

Railroading projects in 1/35th always seem to be "something just a little bit different".
As such I am just sharing a current work in progress:

Scratch built abutments and two HO model railroad bridges combined to form this 1/35th scale model.

Currently working on "distressing" the rails and other track work.

Well I am up to my old tricks again but this time on a different (non-railroading) bridging project:

A Sixty foot K-Gerät German Pioneer Bridge

I am shooting to recreate as a final result: a four section, (three trusses per section,) K-Gerät German engineer's bridge 62.5 scale feet long.

Splicing together N scale bridges to attempt to make the basic bridge assemblies.

Splendid job here, Mike!

I've finished the rough assembly of the most complicated features I have modelled sofar- the Ringtrichter(listening ears) elements of the RRH:

Yes, Peter, that (stupid) man loves a challenge...

Ringtrichter constructed:

Sofar, it has been a bigger challenge than anticipated... but I am stubborn(and stupid) as a donkey.
Next to build are "die Tragarmen"/"the carrying arms", that hold the Ringtrichter.

I like donkeys.
This is another Masterpiece! Angel, you are incredible when it comes to scratch building.
So what's next? Würzburggerät? (teasing) but really love to see that coming along, hint hint.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Bumped a lot this week into a lot of information I did not even know about. Sometimes one click does it for the rest of the year. About the Würzburggerät, I found these on a Czech Model Forum.

My reason to post this has to do with the Specific trailer they seem to use. That in case was my search and I found these two pictures.
Does not apply to your plan with the Würzburggerät, or am I completely wrong on this?
I wanted to buy the special (limited Amuzing Hobby kit) with the Würzburggerät as a bonus but cancelled it for the time being. If you have some information I would be very pleased to receive that.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan
