Greetings everyone.

I went to inspect my HMS Victory but found that part 349 has two pieces broken off it, and there is only one of the parts in the box.. I have a feeling it is how I got it as it was a second hand kit.

349 is on the left. Can anyone out there have one of these kits that they could spare the part from, not so much for me to keep it but to make a resin copy of it if possible. Or, alternatively, if anyone has this kit they no longer want I would love to purchase it from you.

Thanks in advance
Warren

Hey Warren,

I'll check my fitting out yard and let you know if I have a spare (I've got three of those kits razeed to frigates, so that part would be oversized for my uses).

Cheers.

Hi Warren!

The elves who work in my fitters yard found a matching pair still on the sprue.

If you want the Heller parts, you can fly out to San Diego and I can hand them to you on the Hangar Deck of the USS Midway, or, you could send me a PM with your address, and we'll figure out how to get them to Australia without breaking all over again!

Or, you could try the Inman replacement parts.

I will stand by.

Sir you are a true gentleman and I salute you.

As much as I would love to come to San Diego again alas it is a little more expensive then it was in the air force to get there.

I will attempt to PM you my address etc and we can come to a suitable financial agreement re the parts.

Mine may work, but the Heller ones would be much much better.

Thanks again

Hi Warren!

A PM reply has been posted. I will find the most economical method to send them across the Pacific, but I hope you are not in a great hurry for those particular parts...

No hurry at all Sir.

I have about 50 ships in the stash ready to go (PE, Wood Decks etc) and about 40 more just waiting for detail parts. I could even practice on a Revell 1/96 Cutty Sark...

Wonder if anyone makes detail sets for her?

Cheers
Warren

I don't know about Cutty Sark, but you can get up to 11 sheets of photoetch for the Heller Victory! Also resin correction parts.

Thanks for that David. I think I may get them. Not sure yet.

My paint arrived today..

Admiralty Paints HMS Victory set from Cornwall Model Boats.

I have never used these before but they are acrylic which is what I like.

I have had one of these in my stash for many years. Also the Revell 1/96 Cutty Sark and Thermopylae. Too scared to start them, though I did build the Revell 1/96 Pedro Nunes some years ago. (Thermopylae rigged as a barque). The Defi sets can be bought as a whole or separately, depends on the size of your wallet.....

Hi Warren,

Well, now you've got me all paranoid about my kit! Those 2 parts you're referencing, one of them has broke off the sprue, and the other is still on the sprue. I'm going to have to take a look to see what shape they're in.

But the (sort of) good news, is that while I was looking around the box for some of the cabin window parts, I found a small sheet of paper, which is a "missing parts" order form. Plus, on the last page of the instructions, there is also a form you can send to Heller to try and get replacement parts. The point is, if you ever need some replacement parts, let me know and I will pass along either a copy of the order form, or a copy of the form that is within the instructions.

Cheers,

Tim

Hi timmyp.

2 years on and I presume you received the parts you needed as I have been reading your blog. I still haven't ordered the Dafi stuff and the Victory is held up until I can afford the stuff. Problem is it seems to be getting more and more expensive.

Cheers

Hiya Warren!

Well, the good news, I didn't have to order any parts (yet). But I am thinking about trying to contact Heller, and see if they can pony up about a half dozen of part #40 (I think it's part 40), which are the eyebolts. I need 4 more to install on the underside of the foremast top cap (which is part 404, or maybe 402 or 406, something like that). I can probably live without those eyebolts in place, as I can't see any of the rigging getting attached to the eyebolts...plus, since I've installed the eyebolts on the main mast top cap, the eye barely hangs down from the cap, which would make it most impossible to tie (tye?) a line to them.

Cheers,

Should be easy to fabricate for such an experienced and skilful modeller as yourself.

Ha ha!! You're funny!! I think the more apt description is "hack and slash and gobs of glue!!!"

Cheers,
