Ian Barraclough shares a number of photographs of a very special diorama. This diorama will be on display at Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess of the Royal Mechanical and Electronic Engineers (REME) at Lyneham.

WOW! This is superbly accomplished, Ian!

I believe you will find that Wally Harris' family, and everyone else for that matter, will be quite satisfied with your depiction and honoring of this fellow Engineer Soldier.

Bravo, c'est magnifique !!
The british soldiers by themselves are a great "in action" picture. The french village is also very well rendered (maybe just to many alcohol advertising on the same wall... not sure wartime was so business oriented)... the paved road is so spot on !!
And the way Ian enlighted the frame wood with portrait and informations is a very elegant and informative way to finish up a dio which is already a jaw-dropping piece. Excellent !!

What an awesome build, just the details make you want to think about what happened at that time.

Just perfect. How did you get the writing and the pictures on the wooden frame?

What a fantastic diorama! Not only is the quality of work superb but it literally does tell a story! I've got to admit I love a good dio but ones which actually tell a true story have to be my favourite. The amount of work that goes into the research of the action on top of the accuracy of the subjects adds that extra something to it. Even better that it's going to a mess where it will be appreciated. All too often solidiers are unaware of past individual acts of bravery but to actually see it represented like this will hopefully compel some to read up on it. Superb work Ian.

Thanks for all the comments guys - really appreciated. The pictures and text are printed onto clear transfer paper, dipped in klear once off the backing paper and applied. I used 'Old Newspaper' font and a sketch app to re do the pictures. Erichvon - yes you're right, half the effort is decrypting the story. In this instance Wally's citation was jumbled after going through the many layers of red tape. His citation states that he drove his Jeep into German lines with he 30 cal mounted on it. This wasn't the case. He left the Jeep at his own lines. Cheers again.
