I'm tryin my hand at a spiral staircase for the wall and balcony at the entrance .
The arches are from Dioramadebris.com company referred to my on this build .
I love these silicone molds , just pour plaster into the molds and tap them out I bought slate roof tiles , duckbill roof tiles , cobblestones , curbstones , BRICK , stone , and a lot more .
Very , very highly recommended !!!
I purchased these online on a Sunday evening and were in my mailbox seven days later from England .
I plan on grabbing more of their products soon .

Someone is an overachiever...
LoL

It's not, that it's just great work.
And it's not, that it's a huge project.
It's also a totally different, outside the box idea !

Staircase is brilliant! The center post and steps are not hard but that outer "wrap" is a work of art. It has to curve and go upward at the same time. Excellent buddy!

Thanks Jerry , the wrap is a very thin [ paper thin ] piece of wooden ship planking , don't know what type of wood but it's very flexible yet sturdy and doesn't splinter .

Hi'ya John how are you man long time no speak .
Nice at gun I saw you posted over on ML , very nice work .
You won't be disappointed with the dioramadebris stuff , way cool .
The slate roof tiles have amazing definition .
Don't use craft plaster , use something like DAP plaster it's stronger .

Nick , thanks man , should get a lot done this weekend , I got a four dayer .
Easter Sunday with the relatives [they all decided it would be at my house this year ....... thanks ] will be the only non modeling time .

Cheyene, Beautiful work here! Design, construction, and execution all outstanding.....wow.
Just discovered this great build and for someone who's just now getting back at it after being away for far too long, I will add that this has truly given me inspiration as well.
Thank you for this endeavor and will be watching for more.

Happy Easter and Congrats to you,
Dave

Hi Cheyenne, Those are nice looking doors & handles!

I had a thought ... are you planning on replicating standing water in the pool ... maybe with floating debris ... or will the pool be drained with small puddles and scattered debris at its bottom? Either way, I'm guessing you probably have some sort of cool tile-work already planned.

Cheers!

Thanks Mike , the pools depth will be what you see in the pics .
Water up to the fancy inner coping with a lot of building debris in the far end by the spiral stairs and graduating to less debris by the diving boards , where there will be lots of floating stuff .

I can't make the pool depth any deeper or the build will be six or eight inches up off the eventual base . Speaking of base I'm pretty close to making sub assemblies permanent on whatever I chose to use as a base , most likely 3/4 ply at 3 x 4 feet give or take .
Either way the pool can be the first on the base , not much more to do there except add debris and water and floaty stuff .

Cheyenne,
Your work is amazing and I am never sure how to make constructive criticism of such hard and dedicated work. I hope you don't mind...

Something about the cable or rope railing on the spiral stairwell just strikes me as... well, not wrong, but not accurate... seems like it would be unsteady and I've never seen a staircase with less than a solid rail unless it is a rope bridge.

Also, the pocket doors are brilliant but the handle seem to be a larger scale than you would see. I ran into the same trouble and have a reference figure just to make sure. Those seem awfully big...

I love these huge scale dios... maybe if we get our house purchased and they leave the table saw and the compressor, I will be set for the rest of my life!

Keep up the great work! Hope I haven't ruffled any feathers!

Jerry ,thanks man .

Dvsand , thank you also man .

Patrick , nonsense critique away man that's how everyone learns and gets better at things , both of us .
You're absolutely right about the spiral stairs .
I tried small scale chain , more wood veneer ship plank , just couldn't get it to lay right , it's a different angle than the ship plank I used on the treads .
Sooooo , I had to settle for a taught cable .
The stairs will be among a lot of debris so hopefully I can use the artistic license card .

However I will stand by the door handles .
Today's pocket doors glide effortlessly on greased ball bearings in a casing .
My Grandmother had pocket doors all through her Victorian house big heavy ornate knockers [ the door not my Grandmother ] in Clifton N.J. , they didn't glide effortlessly and you needed a sturdy handle to open and close them .
You were pulling a heavy oak door left to right or vice versa , not swinging in or out on hinges .
One thing you also have to remember is when you tell your Grandmother you'll install a phone jack for her in the library , don't I repeat don't drill through the baseboard and the closed pocket door in the wall , ......... dam thing won't open ............... yep that was me I did that .
Poor old lady couldn't figure out why she couldn't close the darn door , caught hell for that one .

Look more in scale with some figgies ?

Hey there Cheyenne, a lot of update pictures posted since my last visit & everything is looking fantastic. Awesome detailing and I am sure it entailed a lot of complex work to achieve what you have done so far.

Very interesting project and excellent architectural execution thus far. The end result should be a masterpiece!

Cheers!
