Reading through a thread about washing or not the sprues a few weeks ago here on Armorama, I was surprised to see I was the only one doing it in about 10 people replying so it might be me. Still, even after cleaning the sprue (each piece, really using an old toothbrush and dishwashing liquid in warm water) I still see paint puddling up on greasy surfaces from time to time so I do think it is worth spending the extra time.

I used to wash the sprues before construction -- but that was a loooong time back. Read that the washing in warm soapy water cleans the parts of mold release agents IIRC. But I found that tedious and stopped the practice. What I do now is to wash the built model prior to any painting. Cheers

Count me in with a Dragon Marder II, just started it, will work slow so I don't get over 50% done by November (1st?).

@Paul: The Archer is really looks nice! But the same apply to most of those other choices you had on your list. Decision, decisions...!

@Tat: I was also considering that method but with all the fragile PE parts on it didn't felt safe.

@Colin: Great to have you join! Do you have pictures of where you stay? Just to get the modelling juice flowing

Here's a first image of my planned entry for this campaign, the Trumpeter Scud in 1/35:

After about 6 weeks of working on this, mostly on weekends, it now stands around 30% but the really fiddly work is just about to start with the cabins and the missile compartment. The fit is excellent and it has a sensible component split despite the high part count (1300+).

Cristian,
Your project is looking very nice so far. I'm still in work on my FT-17 so I have a few more days until I have to commit to a kit for this campaign. Strongly leaning towards the Bishop right now... I think...

Thanks, Paul!

The Bishop would indeed be a nice one.

Christian
I have a couple of kits that fit the bill for this, Brummbar from Dragon is fav with masses of etch which would take me well over the 500.

So count me in.

Great to have you join, Peter! Which Brummbär will it be? Early, mid or late?

Well, I think I finally made up my mind on the project for this campaign. The Bronco Bishop. The other possibilities kept changing but the Bishop always seemed to be in the mix. In case you think this strange, it often takes me a week or so to decide. Especially since I have a tendency to take quite a while to build a kit, I have limited display space and I absolutely hate shelf queens staring at me!

Hopefully, approval will come through soon... I Can't wait to get started on this campaign now!

The Bishop is a great choice, Paul! Looking forward to see it being built.

I'm flexible in regards to the rules so as I mentioned before, I'm fine with anyone starting the kit even before the campaign approval given it will not exceed 50% by the official start date. But even this adder is something we can drop if the majority agrees. That is to say, crack that box open, take a starting picture, post it and start building

I still haven't heard back on the proposal but it's been less than week.

Cheers,
Cristian

As far as cracking the box and starting the Bishop, it will be at least a week or two before that happens. I still have the minor final assembly and touches to put on my FT-17. I'm leaving town for a family trip tomorrow, so I really won't have time to get the Meng kit ready to go into the display case before that.

Never the less, I am excited about doing this campaign and I'm hunting for pictures and reference to make it a solid build.

I'll be monitoring this thread while I'm out of town to enjoy what others accomplish while I'm away from my bench.

Are you posting images of that FT-17 build somewhere so we can follow along?

Cristian,
No, I haven't. I can post some in progress pics in my gallery. I saw someone else was blogging an FT-17 build and I didn't want to distract anyone from that. I will let you know when I've uploaded the pics.

Cheers,
Paul

Cristian,
I've posted some in progress pics of the FT in my Gallery. I'm out of room there until I delete some others. Will post more once I figure out how to get rid of the on the from the last campaign I was in.

Cheers,
Paul

Cristian,

Here is a link to some of the pictures for my Meng FT -17 Riveted Turret. This is my first attempt at posting with an URL from outside the Kitmaker Network. Hope it works...

Wow, beautiful work on the FT! How do you solder such tiny pieces? You can pm me so we don't clutter up this thread!

That's looking absolutely fantastic, Paul! Since I'm currently also looking into soldering PE parts instead of glueing the, would you mind sending me your method by PM, too?

Thanks!

Won't be starting just yet Christian as I have a few other builds on the go. Once we have a start date I will upload pics of the kit and etch. The etch is a massive pack so god knows how many parts are in that alone. And guys any tips on soldering etch would be appreciated too PM me I would be grateful.
