This is my Dragon Nashorn. As you can see , it's not complete, there is a lot of work into open interior vehicles, they always take me a long time. Anyway, I bought the AFV Club Nashorn 1/35, so I will halt on this Dragon & start building the AFV one...just to see how it compares. I did come across some fit issues with this Dragon but I believe it is my fault.
The colors will be corrected on this Dragon once I get going again. This Dragon kit is a very good kit by the way. I built an older/earlier Dragon Nashorn before this one & slapped on winterketten tracks, boy, does it look slick.
PS- notice the yellow button on the radio>?? Wrong! lol The red eye cushion on the sight..wrong! The yellow round..not sure but I think HE is Green & AP is black?. I enjoy doing interior complex work, it takes a long time but every little detail is worth it. I did a couple Stug III G's with interior's..it was fun but took a long time. If you never did one before, try it..take your time. There's a certain way to paint these kind of kits...I guess you could just slap it all together , then paint it..but I can't do it like that..my conscience won't let me.

I'd also like to see this finished. As for the yellow shell, not quite sure what conclusion Matt's link is getting to, but HE rounds were yellow. It's not impossible that a Nashorn might carry a few HE for use against infantry or anti-tank guns.

If you read through the thread, it explains which shells were painted which colors.

Is the plastic that sorry soft stuff Dragon used to manufacture? This is a deal breaker, for me. My other question is how do you intend to paint the road wheels or are they not attached?

Great job on all the interior work so far, David. My only suggestion to make it even better would be to slap a little filler in these two seams to cover them up.

when i do wheels i prime & base coat them off the model...then i put them on the model..do my camo & paint rubber. i don't worry about what the viewer won't see..saving paint & time.
i paint tracks off the model...then put them on , then weather , detail them. magic tracks same way...i put a full run together, full side, let it sit for 15 mins..then prime..after that is dry i put on model ..start the other run. Once both sides are on I detail & weather..pigments is 2nd to last step..then a pencil on wear edges is final step.

G'day David

looks good. one suggested change is to put a layer of 88mm ammo boxes on the floor of the fighting compartment. This made it easier for the crew - otherwise you'll find they can't reach the breech or sights.

Regards

A question rather than criticism.

Would their really have been a Panzerfaust racked in the fighting compartment. I'm not talking about one that crew might have thrown inside unofficially but specific racking designed for a Panzerfaust.

Can't imagine a situation where it would be used - if a target has got close enough to use it then the Nashorn would be a gonner.

Cheers,

Nigel
