Hi folks,

The golden years for Allied and Commonwealth modellers seem to continue and have branched out into a whole new range of WW1 items. A range of excellent artillery from Resicast, Mk IV Tanks from Tamiya and Takom, with the range and type growing steadily, French armour in the form of the St Chamond and Meng FT17s, even some new plastic artillery seems in the pipeline and even some Armourd Cars.

On the figures side things have improved too. New and re-poped items from Tamiya, some excellent sets from Master Box Ltd, ICM with a range of advancing infantry with more to come and excellent weapon sets. Several resin figures are also available form Stalingrad and D Day Miniatures.

So my question is what type of figures would you ilke to see to enhance your ideas?

My thoughts are:

British Artillery crew - A generic set of 6/8 in various types of dress/undress
British Medics, Stretch Bearers and a mixed group of walking wounded and some on stretchers carried and wheeled.
Wounded/Dead infantry
Pack Muels and Horses carrying stores and shells.
A 4/6 Team of horses and rider(s) to tow artilley
A Vickers MG Crew
Cooks and general labourers/work parties

I've focused on the British Commonwealth side of life but I am sure there are plenty of other wants!

Cheers

Thanks for kicking this off Al:

Same as you generally, basically figues in more relaxed poses....no one pointing though !!!!!!!!!
There was a lot of lifting/fetching/carrying going on.....some relaxed groups eating....not everybody was advancing or going over the top......it was a static war much of the time.....but amix of headgear, the "gor-blimey" caps, and shirt sleeve order......a general mix I know.....but relaxed poses definately.

Sorry Lads as I'm going the other way.....'in contact poses' firing, bayoneting/ parrying, similar to what MB do with their 'hand to hand' series, firing MG crews. Static firing poses from trenches. Turkish infantry, US Marines/Army (I know ICM have a US kit coming....). But most of all German Uhlan, Belgian, Brit and French cavalry for early 1914. I'll stop there.....lol

The planned MB Over the Top British Infantry look pretty good as do the ICM Australian and New Zealand Troops.

Plenty of scope and reference pictures that's for sure. If I was thinking of an action scene, I'd prefer some trench raiders, with pistols, cudgles and bayonets.

I'd also like to see a set of troops marching to the front, that could be used either on the road or moving up through the trenches, heavily laiden wiht kit.

How about some of these,

Turks,
German artillery crew
Commonwealth troops at rest in tranches.
Commonwealth ammunition carriers for mortars and small guns.
Commonwealth and German troops walking wounded.
Italian mountain troops, with howitzers on pack mules. (Dolomites).
Irish rebellion troops Easter 1916.
Arab troops in the middle east fighting the Turks.

I'd like to have several German soldiers riding on top of an A7V. Seen this in several war photos and think it would look great in scale.

All of the Tommy's War and Andrea figures getting resized to 1/35 scale would be nice. I'm sure it can be easily done if you sculpt using CAD.

Good question, Al. I'd like to see a group of Brits or Germans donning their gas masks in a hurry. Some figures moving closely behind a tank with some climbing aboard.
French Foreign Legion figures would always be a treat as would various Colonial troops.

Portuguese, Belgians (all three versions of the uniform plus carabiniers and their bicycles), Serbians, Greeks. German Jaegers in the 1914 uniforms and their bicycles.

Poilu in the infinite variations of their uniforms as seen in World War I Infantry in Color Photographs.

And the cavalry. I did most of these in 1/72 (thank you Hat) and have many of the Scale Link figures but I'd like the chance to do them in plastic in 1/35.

Oh and how about some 1916 US guys with motorcycles and horses to chase Pancho Villa?

I'd like to see more resin german figures in animated poses. I can't seem to find any at all.

If anyone has a link to such sites could they please share it with me.

ICM's recent WWl sets are the best plastic figs I've seen - better than Dragon (yes...I know; Dragon has not released any WWl figures - just generally speaking) and better than Masterbox. I would just like to see more varied poses rather than just advancing. Maybe a heavy MG team; infantry firing in different poses; throwing grenades; etc. Maybe an artillery crew for the guns that other manufacturers have released. Etc...
