Wow! What a monster. An absolutely great idea and definitely something out of the ordinary. I like it a lot.

What is the general idea on how it works? is it the heat or the air blast from the jet engine that decontaminates the vehicle?
What is in the trailer? Fuel for the jet engine?

It goes something like this: Decontaminating an object such as a vehicle, is achieved by subjecting thebject to an elevated temperature for a time sufficient to achieve the desired temperature. The heat source is preferably a jet engine which is supported for universal movement. The temperature of the surface of the object under treatment is determined by sensing the infrared radiation emanating from the surface of the object. In response to the attainment of a predetermined level of infrared radiation, an electric control member is used to regulate the movement of said heat source. Thus heating is caused to be directed at selected regions of the object under treatment for the time period necessary to attain the desired temperature level.

The tank on the back of the truck is split in two, half holding jet fuel and half holding water. Underneath the tank is a small pump which pumps the water to the 4 nozzles at the business end of the jet engine via the pipe down the right side of the engine. I'm pretty sure they would also add some sort of decontaminant fluid to the mixture. The trailer, from my limited understanding also holds jet fuel - but information is very limited. There's videos on You Tube of it in operation.

The Soviets also used a caustic soda mix for decontamination purposes. A number of CW agents could prove to be quite stubborn to clean up - Blister Agent was one of them. The idea is that two TMS-65's would operate side by side and the blokes would also scrub the vehicles using stiff brooms.

I hope this helps...

And now, for something completely different. This is really a one-of-a-kind build and you've done an excellent job, Ian!! Don't believe I'd want to be one of those blokes with a broom, though>
