There I was busily building the Tamiya Nashorn when lo and behold part D56 (the dang gun tube) was missing from the sprue. After an exhausting and frustrating search for a replacement, I ordered a Jordi Rubio replacement barrel. Does anyone know if that barrel is going to work on this superb model?
Many thanks

DJ;

Hi!

I suspect that the Jordi Rubio barrel will fit onto the kit - just think it through first before you do any trimming or cutting of the styrene breach and mount bits, etc.

I personally am, however, dubious as to the JD barrel itself - a couple of JD barrels passed through my building a while back, and I was vastly underwhelmed by them - they were NOT this barrel, however... They do confer the desired true-round w/out seams a metal barrel brings, but left me cold as to the muzzle-brakes. And by me, that is the essential detail on most barrels that I look for to enhance my builds.

I would, given you ID this kit as "superb", suggest going to one of the LionRoar, Aber, or RB-Models Pak 43 barrels made for Nashorn kits - these are all really great barrels with super-nice, detailed muzzle-brakes.

Just my HO and suggestion!

A bit late to ask if you've already ordered one, isn't it? Bob's right though, there are better looking barrels out there. I'm partial to the RB ones.

In the future, you can call Tamiya USA -- they have a very helpful parts replacement hotline.

Metal is better anyway!

Show us your build when it's finished.

My Nashorn is almost done but as I recall I was perplexed about the gun tube and at first thought it was missing. IIRC it was stapled to one of the sides of the box (inside). It is on a sprue all to itself and it is not a common way to pack it.

Duh! So is mine. Cancel the alert all troops back to barracks, a great Tamiya kit. Especially after laboring with the M-6 and T-28 from Dragon.
