Darrell,

Three vehicles, this is a big kit !

For UN mission in 1993 in Somalia if I'm right. Good work.

Very interesting choices so far ...

@BLUESTAB (Alex)
A while ago you asked about a BMP-1 in UN service. Today I found a picture in a book. So we can say YES there were BMP-1 in UN service (painted white). The image shows 2 UNOSOM indian BMP-1 in Somalia december 1993.
Shoot me a PM with your Emailadress and I can send you the images if you ar still interested.

Cheers
Walter

Is this campaign active? It doesn't appear in the "active campaigns" category...It should have been started on november 1st, or?

I had some progress on my AMX 30 AU F1 over the weekend...
The lower hull and wheels are painted, the tracks are base coated with rust.

The upper hull got several layers of Revell 05 White. It's been a fight to convince the paint to cover things properly. Reminder to myself: I should not pre-shade with black next time when doing a white vehicle. A rust brown would have probably been the right choice here.

Cheers,
Cristian

Nice build so far, Christian. Looking good your AMX.

Yes, it´s a good hint ... preshading with black makes a strong contrast and maybe thick levels of white color to cover it.

Cheers

Thanks, Walter!

I had my first pin wash and rain marks trial on the AMX but it turned out too harsh so its back for me to spraying even more white over it...

Does anyone else have some progress on theirs? I'd love to see other weathering variations on the rather plain white...

sorry Christian ... no update on painting ... I'm just filling all these nasty ejector pinmarks on the AFV Club Track ... not so funny :-(

Cheers
Walter

PS. If you need some input for painting a white un vehicle this may help M109A2 UN painting

Oh man, Walter! That's not funny at all... You'd expect better quality from a kit in the price range of the AFV Club ones...

You won't find pictures of UN AuF1 with the old tracks. You'd better get a set of Friul tracks and modify the sprockets.

Olivier

Well I think I will make it easyer...
The meng au f1 in ready for painting and I will keep it for the usual nato 3 colours scheme.

I don't give UP the UN Au f1, I will puechase the one from hobby boss, it has the right tracks (even if I will add the workable ones)

What a pity Raphael! It would have made a good comparison counterpart to mine...

Anyway, I had some progress on the painting and weathering. I decided to go for the yellowish dusty appearance. You tell me what you think... Thanks!

Hi guys!
I would like to join in for my first Armorama Campaign, but I'm not sure if the kit I'm choosing, fits for it.
I have here an APC Transportpanzer "Fuchs" from the German Bundeswehr, part of SFOR in Bosnia 1997. It's not painted in white but in NATO standard camo green/black/brown. Valid or not? Kit is from Revell 1/35.

@Torsten:
SFOR was NATO lead.
The TPz FUCHS was also deployed to UNOSOM II in Somalia .. nicely painted white ;-) ... take a look here http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutscher_Unterst%C3%BCtzungsverband_Somalia#mediaviewer/File:TPz_Fuchs_of_the_Bundeswehr_in_Somalia.JPEG

@Cristian:
Nice to see some painting ... it´s hard to give feedback in such an early painting stage, because it is WIP and we don`t know what finish you want to achieve.

Cheers

Starter picture time. I'm doing a Trumpeter BMP-1 in Indian service during peacekeeping operations in Somalia 1993.

Cristian, nice paint on your model. Heller kits are not very easy to build.

Thanks, Alex!

Actually, I had mixed feeling about this kit in the beginning. The PE parts parts are really nice, thin and easy to work with. There was SERIOUS flash on the sprues but only in non-critical sections as it turned out later. The fit was great for small parts but not that good on large pieces (e.g. the turret was warped, the upper). But in the end, it was fun building it!

I have been working on the smaller details, some dry brushing, adding some more pigments to simulate accumulated dust and so on. I hope to be able to post some images of the finished "product" over the weekend, the latest.

Getting close to finish this one... I think I might add some more of the brown black metal details by drybrushing.
Feedback as always, greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Very nice weathering. I like the worn out aspect of your paint, very realistic.

Good job Cristian. Nice weathering.

I don´t know how far you will go with accuracy, but the tracks on your model are not right for a vehicle used in Lebanon. HobbyBoss did a set of tracks which is correct. Look for AMX-30B2/AU-F1 Workable Tracks Item:81010.

cheers

Thanks for the hint, Walter! I decided to go with the kit tracks as this was purely intended as a quick build...
