Cool.

Maybe my heli can be rescuing an azz from the desert?

I'd say a.s.s. but it might get censored.

I might be interested in, but I am a bit confused, the time period is 1879 to the present, but only mention vehicles; are figures/busts/dios without vehicles welcome?

So that's what I screwed up this time.
Yes of course figures/busts/and dios without vehicles are allowed, I'd love to see some of those figures painted as the 2nd Warricks on foot or the Royal Engineers or even a Zulu warrior, hope someone pulls that off.
I'll even accept a pair of mules, harnessed and towing an ammo cart.

Paul

Okay, okay... I just gotta know. What's with the quote if all you're going to say is "I'm in"?

Welcome Bruce, Matthew and Sean.

Sean, I'm sure you can find some other paint if Humbrol don`t
come up with it.

Hello Guy, welcome to "sun tan gang"
The Panzer III is beautiful tank and fits the Afrika Korps
perfectly, I expect we'll see quite a few of these turn up.

Howdy Y'all
I'm in if I'm not busy moving to a new job.
I'll probably do something German or British in 1/48 scale. I love that scale, if I could only finish a kit.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

I'm probably in. It's just too far off to settle on any particular idea. Probably something a bit light-hearted, maybe go with something set during Desert Shield.

Hi Don and Alex, I also welcome both of you to the sun tan gang.

We have plenty of time to choose a subject, so no need rush yet

Oh I'm sure I can Paul. I have more sand coloured paints in the box that greens and regularly mix & match. But it would be nice to get the enamel 237 for some more of those nice modern 1/48 Airfix kits.

Does it have to be real? I'm thinking maybe something along the lines of Fremen from the Dune series. If not, no big deal.

I have a Humvee in the stash I could do as a Desert Storm subject. And no telling what may cross my mind by the time this one starts.

Hi Alex, the rules state that `what if's´are allowed. Just show me a pic of what your going for, it's been a few years since I last saw that cool movie and you wakened my interest.

Welcome Matt,
be sure that you have logged in, otherwise you can't enlist.
Or try this link, this seems to be o.k.

Thanks Paul.

I find it best to ask and be sure than to be told later that an idea is not allowed. The Dune idea came about a few days ago. One of my nephews got the original Dune 1984 movie as a gift and my sister wanted to know if it was age appropriate for him.

I don't know if I'd do a direct Dune/Fremen depiction. More than likely I would take elements of them and incorporate them in to something based in Earth's near future.

Anyway it's a ways off. I'll probably go back and forth witha couple of ideas before this one kicks off.

Hi Paul,
Would something not military at the time but which evolved into it qualify? I'm referring to the Model A and AA Fords used by Major Ralph Bagnold, Bill Kennedy-Shaw, Pat Clayton et al in their expeditions into the Libyan desert in the late 20's and early 30's, from which came the Long Range Desert Group a decade later.

In the above photos, you can see hoses for radiator condensers, sand channels in use, and a goodly number of rifles, some probably Lee-Enfields.
Regards,
Dick
