Making a slow, steady progress on the commission Superfortress. Eager to return to my Maus.

Carved plastic and bent copper wire are about to become the seats for the driver and radio operator

YAY! An update! The B-29 looks great, but is it time to move on to something that will not fly? Great seats! I like the idea of the carved plastic, I will have to use that.

Speaking of superchargers, what do you have planned for tackling the power plant of the Maus? I assume you won’t be using a kit, since I don’t believe a 1/35 scale mb 509 or 517 exists, but I could be wrong!

Great thread! I saw the Maus itself last year and boy it’s impressive although lonely in Kubinka nowadays. If you need any detail external pics just shout!

From the CAD graphics of the Trumpeter kit, it will have the petrol engine of the V1 and the first engine of the V2. You can modify the first engine to make the second one, but for the third there are no "from the box" options. Scratch building is the only way to go if you want the third and final engine configuration. I tried contacting the Mercedes Benz archives about it, but sadly they did not reply. Hope to go there in person one day and shed some light on this elusive engine, the Daimler Benz MB 517.

Oh I’m sure we just pick up a 603 from the local museum, and use our imagination for the rest.
