Was it translated in English? I have the original edition in German. The book is excellent.

Adjacent to the fans would be the exhaust ducting for the warm air. It is quite intricate, split to make room for the engine exhaust pipe and has actuated louvers that could be opened or closed depending on engine temperature.
The bad news is that I had to take some commission work so progress on the Maus is very slow...

Florin,
Given Murphys' Law,I am sure that you are the reason we will soon be getting TWO kits of this tank to choose from !
Because we all know,if you scratchbuild something, then it's garunteed the kit will be released shortly after we finish.

I understand that this build is on hold for your work, but I certainly hope this build isn't on hold for good. Good luck with everything!

I am currently working on a foiled 1:48th B-29 Superfortress for someone because I really, really need the money and am eager to resume work on this project as soon as that thing is done. There is a tiny step forward on the Maus, just shot the aluminum barrels with some self-etching primer. In the upper right corner you can see the landing gear bay walls of the B-29 halfway done.

Sorry about the long delay in getting an answer back to you. The book is well worth the investment, my copy is in english. Excellent book if you're interested in knowing about this beast.

About halfway through that build, work resumes on the Maus as soon as I'm done with the B-29.

May speed be with you and the B-29.
We need the Maus story to go on. One of my all-time fav threads out there.

I received Kampfpanzer Maus by Michael Fröhlich and I must say, I now understand how you were able to get such accurate detail in your model.

It is one of the many sources, yes, but not the primary one. There is an article in Waffen Revue numbers 16-20/1975 and some stuff in Russian that supplement the information.

Failed attempt at coating the fuel tanks with aluminum foil, While it looks better than paint, the material used to make the tanks, Styrodur, is elastic and prevents a perfect, uniform adhesion of the foil. Not much of a problem, the shape is OK and the part will be cast in resin.

Maybe try Alclad Aluminum after a basecoat of black? after resin casting...

Yep,that'll work well as far as I am concerned. Smooth casting.
Have you heard about the upcoming Maus release with full interior ? You are probably the reason they made that kit ! LoL
