@Matt - Fascinating and informative review of this little armoured obscurity. I've built a few Dragon kits in this scale and was surprised to read about the issues of the plastic being soft and rubbery. I'd also agree with your assessment about the cost of this kit being rather high, especially since you don't get the option of building the amphibious version. What are the odds that they'll release that version in the future and at an even higher cost.

Cheers,
Jan

I was a bit surprised at the plastic too, it almost felt like the same stuff the DS tracks are made out of. I assume that a pontoon equipped one will come out later but it would have been nice to have the option with this kit. I admit to being amazed to see these kits in 1/72 with detailing and such that would have been amazing in 1/35 a mere decade ago. Also, the level of detail cast into the major hull parts is impressive.

This isn't the only Dragon kit in braille with the soft plastic. I think that it is meant to make it easier to clean up the mold lines and such because many of the parts are so delicate to begin with, and there is really no need to be sanding or reshaping the kit parts for fit or cleanup aside from this. I think that it's easy to work with, almost effortless, and I find this a real plus on the very fragile pieces such as headlight guards and grab handles.

+1 vote for the pontoon version
