Artyom I’ve only just discovered this – superb work! I assume you have Scale model shows over there, you should enter this masterpiece & it should easily win First Prize whether you paint it or not. Maybe just paint one side of it....? maybe not

You're really getting closer to the end Artyom, that is a huge amount of very nice construction! I'm really looking forward to the rest of your build, and the paint & weathering.

Hello! Yes, I am getting closer. But this will be very difficult painting project. That's why I have decided to biult and paint Mark.IV from Takom for training.

Maybe you should build another Cromwell, but out of the box, and use that to practice on. You could display it next to this one so everyone could see all of the improvements you made. It would be easier than listing all of your improvements, which would take pages LOL!

Hello, John! I think tis is an inetresting idea. I will think about it. I am afraid it will be a little bit boring build Perhaps I will find A30 Challenger from SKP. It is alike Cromwell and it could be biult OOTB, because there are no aftermarket to it.

Hello,Tim! Thank you for pleasant words! We do have model shows, but rare Most of them are in Moscow, I live in St.Petersburg. I will try to take part itf it will be.
It is very difficult to win First prize because there are a lot of great and experienced modellers in Russia.
I will think about halfpainted tank,it is a brand new idea!

Hello! Very little progress with Cromwell.Lack of time.Turret basket has been done. I only need to do the welds where rods have to be fixed.

I have looked at the Viller Bocage pictures and have seen plates with divisional or platoon markings. I have made them.

And I started to work with lamp spotlight. It is in progress. Now it consist of 19 parts including cables and holder. And one curious observation. When the tank wasn't on march the spotlight was turned to the turret not on the road.

I have finished turret at last! Basket is ready. All hatches are workable. Muzzle brake was reworked with Tamiya compound so as "pillows" on hatches. After a little brake I will work with stowage. Then final fotosession on a good camera.

Ah, that is brilliant news! Always loved the Challenger A30. Too bad that the SKP offering is not that good, so all we have is the old resin one from Accurate Armour.

I have followed your Cromwell project with great interest, so I am very much looking forward to your next project.

One question for you, surely you are aware of the different, wider, track used by the Challenger. Have you found a solution for this as I read elsewhere on Armorama that the SKP aftermarket tracks are not that good.
The wider tracks also call for a different sprocket, by the way.

Hello,Theo! I think Challenger is very interesting tank, so I try to do my best with it. Indeed SKP model kit is very bad. Owful plastic, low accuracy of the details. I had combined SKP hull with Tamiya's Cromwell parts.
I know about the track and have 3 variants.
1.Try to use kit's clickable track. They are very bad unfortunatelly.
Here are they on their site.
http://www.skpmodel.eu/product.php?id_product=81
2.I have bought SKP 147 already. I am waiting it from Moscow. Probably they will be better than kit's one.
http://www.skpmodel.eu/product.php?id_product=169
And they have it own drive spocket.
3.To use tracks from Cromwell. Masterclub or Friulmodel.

Hi Nikolaev!

I like your plans. Since you already have the SKP kit, it indeed is best to work on that, but I suspect that you will gradually replace most - if not all - parts of the hull and turret, add a replacement 17 pdr barrel (PMMS says LionMarc or Aber are the most accurate).
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/rb_model/rb35b07.html

If the Cromwell tracks are usable for the Challenger, Masterclub would be ideal, but you already know that, ofcourse!

Theo, thank you! I have already thought about the barrel. I will try to get Aber. But I think it will be rather expensive. Hopefully I have another Cromwell from Tamiya,so some part whica are suitable for Challenger,I will replace.

Hello! We have had New Year and X-Mas holidays, so there is a little progress with stowage. The kit from Eureka with funnel and bucket. Not easy to build, but the result to my mind is worthy.

Beautiful work. The attention to details is amazing. Almost seems a shame to cover it over with paint. Do however look forward to seeing it painted and weathered.
