I am surprised no one saw the loose rope hanging on the round from the unriden lead horse. I am trying to figure out how to hook that back on as it is in a hard hard place to reach.

Spotted that — thought it to be one of the WIP photos. I believe in one of my earlier posts, I might have mentioned what an extremely delicate assembly that was going to be. Anyhow, I know you’re on top of it buddy … just take care not to bump anything with the Optivisor!

Eagle eye Mike! I can't use the trusty visor on that. I only use it for figure painting as you have to get so close to the subject. I can really tell right away which figs I painted here without the visor,way back when.

Aaaaaaaaand that's a wrap! This came out beautifully and none of the little scenes draw too much attention or detract from the overall picture. Great composition. Romain is proud somewhere. And I bet he noticed the rope

This is one of the best dioramas that I have seen in a very long time. The story line is easy to follow, the poses of the figures and the expressions on their faces support the story line, the overall quality of modeling is top notch...awesome job!
And we got to see it take shape through your posts in this thread.
I also think it was a fitting tribute to Romaine that you dedicated this work to his memory. I am sure he would be pleased with this diorama.

I was just thinking yesterday as I looked at some of the older posts here that I haven't gone back to in literally years,that this whole thing came about as a "mission creep" kind of scenario. The idea did not really start out so big.

Where do you get these ideas? Did you have a tortured youth filled with WW2 movie marathons? LOL!
Stupendous museum quality work... something to strive toward as a builder!

Thanks for the very generous and kind words brother. As I have said before I am a frustrated movie maker and this is my outlet. A much more time consuming way to show th action but a lot less expensive than making a movie like "Fury" or SPR.
I was a career soldier as well and so I feel for soldiers of all countries,yes,even ones from Germany. Soldiers rarely care about politics and these poor slobs in Normandy getting pounded from all sides,including from the sky must have gone through absolute hell. So I try to include the human factor whilst divesting the wartime propaganda as much as possible.
Everyone that clicked on this thread has my everlasting thanks and appreciation as I said before-THANK YOU !!

I am thankful and humbled for this distinction and would encourage anyone that has not been to one of these to try it. They are fun and well run and the vendor room is really something !

I still say you and Doug Cohen should get together and hold your own exhibition-- you could even charge for it-- I'd pay to see it! It will take some repair work on this one now because the roads between the AMPS show and home were unforgiving with the pot holes. A lot of stuff was displaced. So if I ever get that together I would like to take some pics out in the sunlight.

I am posting the best diorama award that this dio won at this years'AMPS show in Danbury Conn.
I am not posting this to toot my own horn but to show how cool the award is and to give thanks for the guys that worked so hard to put on this excellent show. I encourage you guys to enter an AMPS contest. It is possible for every entry to get a GOLD medal if every model in that category is that good !
