Jacques; My point was that the tires are interchangeable between the two vehicles but the wheel hubs are not, they are different, slightly.
However I doubt many hobby competition judges would notice the difference and I don't think I would not mark down a model for using the wrong hubs.

My point is not that I do not understand that the hubs are different, I got that. In fact, the differences are important and noticeable. My point was that the wheels of the MAZ-543 and MAZ-547 are interchangeable at least ONE WAY. I have seen at least one photo of this, I am just not sure which way it went. I believe (I am making a memory guess here) that I have seen the MAZ-547 wheel setup WITH its hub type on the MAZ-543. I will keep looking for the pics I think I have seen.

I'd like to find some ideas of what to do with the 543. I ran across this:

converting a scud to a pershing wont work the scud has a larger diameter then the pershing

Jacques I see your point now.
I have always been at a loss to understand why MAZ did not use the same wheel hub on both vehicles??? One hub must either produce a different reduction ratio for a heavier vehicle or perhaps one is considered an improved, more rugged, durable design.

Without actually counting the gear teeth I estimate the gear reduction ratio of the hubs to be greater than 9 to 1.
Given the larger hub size on the later vehicle I figure it was the more durable design. However I suspect the reduction ratio remained about the same.

I think the MAZ-543 wheels are probably more advanced than the MAZ-537. I have had some dealings with truck tires and it looks like the 537 tires are split rims (old style widow makers) and the 543 wheels are tubeless, which would fit if the 543 has a more advanced centralized tire pressure regulation system with it being a missile carrier. That being the case I am willing to guess that either a EARLY Scud-B had the 537 wheels until the newer 543 tires came out (which would also explain why I compared and noted the 543 tires in the 537 review) OR a 537 received the newer 543 tires. Still looking.

Model of Flap-Jack radar Unit. (Does the radar housing and ops shelter perhaps telescope to the rear when in operating mode? And then snuggle up forward against each other for transport? The frame under the shelter on this model looks like it might!
This last one looks to be a rear view of the Flap-Jack in traveling position.

I love pixs of military equipment in rail transport mode. I always feel like I am getting a "two-fer" with such photos. Military AND railroad all in one photo!

I guess you already know it's a MAZ-7410 (based on the MAZ-543)

It can be seen with or without the extra rear cab. One distinctive feature is the reduced wheelbase ( between 2nd and 3rd and between the 3rd and 4th axles) You can find some pics of the MAZ-7410 (along with a few other Russian beasts

Thanks Frenchy, I knew I could count on you.
Still don't see the five door cab version. I knew about the 7410 model number and the closer wheel spacing. I want to combine parts from the 534 with the 543 to make the fifth wheel tractor. A buddy of mine wants to do the big Accommodations (RV) vehicle which only has the left hand cab and has promised me his spare cab. Now all I need is enough reference to build the fifth cab and the gas tank(s) behind it!
