Clearly I am focusing this thread primarily of the AA-60 crash truck (at least for now!) Here are interior views of some of the equipment lockers on the vehicle:

Note the pump engine in the left rear corner of the vehicle. If you look carefully underneath that compartment you will also notice a muffler and exhaust pipe.

Another interesting detail - the compressed gas cylinders up on the right hand tank deck. Could be a special fire surpression mixture. There is also a hose reel and manual foam spreading nozzle mounted on the front A-frame.

I honestly do not know if these fantastic creations are resin models or completely computer generated CAD images.

Hi;

They make this king of stuff in 1/72, I think it my be by ACE. There is some real nice color pics, of this on the e-net, and some nice Line Drawings.

Damian - not sure exactly what you are trying to say here. Yes, there are two common tread patterns used on the 543 as shown below.

Given the "crispness" of the aftermarket tires and that the kit tires look overly wide (also look like they have 60,000 miles on them.) I think I will stick with the aftermarket tires.

Page 3 of this thread shows another aftermarket resin tire for the 543 these are offered by Tank Workshop. The wheel hubs definately look more sharply done along with the very sharp, well done tread pattern. Also there is no seam down the middle of the tread to fill in later. Mike

I like the original kit tires and wheels as long as you do not compair them with the aftermarket versions. But after seeing the quality of the Tank Workshop set I am very happy to be using them on my crash truck.

p.s. I will say that I wonder about the correct width of the tires. The tires that come with the kit seem slightly too wide whereas the aftermarket Tank Workshop tires appear maybe 15-20% too narrow????

Of course whichever tire is used I will be sanding flats into the bottom "footprint" of the tire to give a greater indication of the mass of this monster vehicle.

Shown here is what I believe to be the heaviest version of the AA-60 crash truck. Note the twin water/foam canons with a platform and railing around the "gunner's" position. Also the large chemical tank mounted transversily, directly in front of the the main water tank.

Just came across a Die-cast Toy company that makes a model of the heavy crash truck pictured above and they refer to it as the AA-70.

At the other end of the spectrum the MAZ crash truck was also made in a short bodied version that I suspect did not have the capability of spreading large areas of foam on the runway like the later units had. Note the very short body overhang past the last set of wheels.

Just an F.Y.I. - That is the product review for the MAZ-537 tires (different center hub) but the Scud tires are mentioned in this review at one point. Regards Mike

MAZ-7310 Uragan Cargo Version - 3D Model by Alex Kontz

Fairly easy conversion from the Scud Transporter. Scratch build the load box and the cover between the two side mounted auxiliary equipment enclosures after you cut the equipment enclosures shorter.
