Okay so A friend of mine retired from SWCC serving on Mk. V SOC and he was telling me of stories about SWCC. So as inspired as I was I have decided that I should try to build one. I couldn't find a kit of a SOC-R, so I have made a sacrifice and decided to try and scratch build it myself... So I found the Layouts of the Special Operations Craft - Riverine (SOC-R) made by United States Marine Inc.out of Mississippi. The SOC-R plans aren't good enough to blow up to size and get exact measurements so I have started by drafting my own. As soon as I finish The over view plans I will post it, with the measurements in Inch's and Centimeters just to be nice . If anybody would like the sources so they can compile them to build there own I am more then happy to send them to you. Hope you enjoy.

Can't help you with your quest but I have a question. What is SWCC? You explained what SOC was.

Sorry about that... Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (SWCC pronounced 'swick') are Special Operators who operate and maintain state of the art Craft that directly support Special Operations missions particularly those of US Navy SEALs (SEa Air Land Commando's). SWCC Crew members go through similar training of that of Navy SEALs but there course is based on maritime environments. They mostly focus on the infiltration and exfiltration of SEALs and other Special Operation Forces. There are three different teams:
1) Special Boat Team 12 Based out of Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California (home to US Navy SEALs)
2) Special Boat Team 20 Based out of Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Virginia
3) Special Boat Team 22 Based out of John C. Stennis Space Center, Mississippi (Home to the Special Operations Craft -Riverine force)

They operate a variety of boats, two of which in Particular, the Mk. V And the SOC-R

Ahoy, J!

A very interesting as well as quite exciting project, mate...as you have found, without a kit of the SOC-R available, you have to resort to exactly what you have embarked upon...designing and scratching your own...bravo zulu!

I have two requests. J, one, I do hope that when you get to building your vessel, you will host a "Build Log" here at MSW so we can all experience your build, and two, I would really love to have a set of your drawings and sources when you're finished...we could make a really helpful feature out of them...are you using CAD for your plans?

Cheers,
~Gunny

Hey Gunny,

Thanks, As soon as I finish up the drawings and references I will post them all. I will make a build log as soon as I have time to start building. Right now is really busy. To build my plans I am doing it the old fashioned way, and using pencil, paper, rulers, and french curve set... but I will hopefully put it into Photoshop and making them nice and neat, so people can read my hand writing lol... Hopefully I can start soon!!

Sorry Guys this has taken so long, but I got a supervisory job at work, and it keeps me real busy. I have yet to start building, but I have most of the measurements done, I have started typing it up, and was wondering if y'all wanted me to send you all the word document I have going with some of the references and so on...
All the best... J

I am thinking of building a Mk5 myself. I have a hull mold pulled from the Little Creek prototype but have had a hard time finding a GA for the superstructure. Where did you find your stuff?

Hi J Hogan how are you . I would really appreciate copies of any plans you have for building an SOC Riverine boat . I would even be willing to give you a donation for them . I would like to see how yours turned out too . Thank you and have a great Holiday season . ;-)
