German Grenades

by: Russ Amott [ RUSSAMOTTO ]

Introduction

Plus Model has expanded their Easy Line of products with a new set of 20 resin grenades as employed by the German army in WWII.

Review

The grenades come molded in two sets of 10 along a single resin block. The attachment point is fairly small. Detail is quite nice, with the end cap and neck of the grenade where the stick handle inserts clearly defined. As a bonus, decals are included for the grenade head. The decals are clearly printed and legible (under magnification). No paint guide is provided so prior knowledge of the subject or some online searching is needed. Photos at Plus Models site show them with dark grey metallic surfaces. Online photos show black, green, field gray and dark gray. I painted one set with very dark grey (or light black) paint and added a few decals to show detail for the review.

Plus Models has this set listed at $4.60 US. It is a simple, inexpensive accessory for a vehicle or diorama setting, or to replace any styrene kit part.
SUMMARY
Highs: Good detail and a good price.
Lows: No paint guide.
Verdict: This is a simple and inexpensive accessory.

I got back into the hobby a few years back, and wanted to find ways to improve, which is how I found this site. Since joining Armorama I have improved tremendously by learning from others here, and have actually finished a couple of kits. I model to relax and have fun, but always look to improve. ...

If the price of these is that low I'll probably buy a few sets as one of the things that annoys me is the disparity in the size of stick grenades between manufacturers so at least I can standardise them :-)

I was thinking when I saw the set first .... whats the point ... I got so many spare grenades over the years. But then I noticed the decals ... Id buy the set just for them. I love this line from Plus Model .... many very useful items at a decent price.

I could definitely use some of these. I'm with Erichvon, a few sets will find their way onto my bench.

Darren, thanks for getting this running. Thanks everyone for the comments. The decals are a huge bonus that really do set this apart. Jerry, if you go to the PlusModel site, look at the partners section and it gives you an extensive list of vendors. HobbyLink, BNA, Firestorm, and many others. The listing is by country.
