Introduction

Wooden crates have long been used for transporting goods, including the military for movement of ammunition and other supplies. Value Gear has started a line of wooden generic crates for use as stowage and diorama accessories, and this latest set is a continuance with Wooden Crates #5.

What you get

Wooden Crates #5 comes with an assortment of crate sizes cast in resin, 16 in all included in the package. These crates measure as following:

8 - 29mm x 9mm x 6mm
3 - 26mm x13mm x 9mm
2 - 25mm x 9mm x 5mm
2 - 25mm x 19mm x 6mm
1 - 29mm x 12mm x 7mm

Review

All the crates are excellently cast in a grey resin, with no flash. The crates will require a little sanding around the bottom to remove the cast seams. The crates are detailed on five of the six sides, with no detail on the bottom. The wood grain is very well done, including the cross braces on the crates. Some of the crates do have cast on rope handle detail on the ends, and this is done very well.

The crates could have multiple of uses from stacked in a diorama, in the back of a cargo vehicle, or tied onto an AFV as stowage. Being generic, the crates could be used for any nationality and/or era, being a great item to have on hand in your spares box.

From past experience with Value Gear resin products, they accept paint well right from the package, but I would recommend a coat of primer first. Once painted up, these are a great looking accessory.

Conclusion

Wooden Crates #5 is another great accessory from Value Gear. The great casting and versatility make these a must to have on hand for diorama and AFV builders. I highly recommend them.
