Introduction

SKP Model has reached 30 sets of lenses and taillights in their range with the latest set to be released for the T-62 from Trumpeter, and it is this set I will be taking a look at. These sets of lenses and taillights feature photo etched frets with various clear and coloured resin coats to replicate the lights on your armoured fighting vehicle build as realistic as can be achieved...until someone starts producing working lights.

Contents

The set consists of a single photo etched fret with 14 lenses and 3 frames and unusually for the lenses and taillights products the SKP Model website has instructions for this set online.

Review

This set consists of three sizes of black lenses, one half round clear lens, and five green and three red very small lenses. Also included in this set are ring frames for the largest of the black lenses and a backing for the half round lens. From looking at pictures of various T-62 tanks this lens set seems to cover everything that is needed and is still the easiest and most realistic way of mimicking the lights on any armoured fighting vehicle currently covered.

This set that I am reviewing here does have a slight error in that the lenses are offset by about 0.5mm, however I do not believe this will cause any issues during use and it is such a small offset that it should not be obvious after attachment. I will stick to what I have said about every set of these lenses and taillights that I have looked at thus far which is they are a great addition to your models.

Conclusion

This is yet another great addition to the lenses and taillights product line from SKP Model and I highly recommend you look into these products for your next vehicle build. The dome effect on the larger lenses adds realism to the product and the detail under the clear lenses on the photo etched parts adds further detail that I do not believe could be added in any other way.
SUMMARY
Highs: For me, the detail beneath the clear lens is a highlight of the set and I cannot think of any other way to achieve the effect.
Lows: The resin lenses in this specific sample is offset by about 0.5mm.
Verdict: Another great addition to SKP Models range of lenses and taillights.
