Introduction

PlusModels Easyline has produced a nice, reasonably priced diorama item that will add detail to any urban setting.

the set

Sewer systems were pretty much standard in most urban areas from the mid-19th century. The Easyline round “Sewer hatches” or “manhole covers” as we know them in the U.S. is a nice detail addition for anyone building a diorama with an urban street in it.

Packaged in a sleeve type bag with a simple printed photo of the ‘sewer hatch’ and description/scale are two (2) nicely case resin pieces. Cast in bubble free light grey resin the detail is very crisp. Of course it’s only the top of the piece that is of any concern as that will be the only exposed portion once incorporated into a diorama.

As stated, you get two pieces, each attached to a pour plug that encompasses about a third of the circumference of the piece. This isn’t really an issue as the resin scribes easily and the attachment points are hidden once the cover is in place. The actual ’sewer hatches’, manhole covers’, cover plates’ whatever you wish to call them measure 7/8” in diameter by 3/16” (2.222 5cm X 0.476 3cm)

Conclusion

PlusModels is making it easy for diorama builders to reach new levels of detail without breaking the bank. It’s tough to rationalize scratch building these (unless scratch building is your thing) considering the price.
SUMMARY
Highs: Great way to add realism and detail to a diorama.
Lows: PlusModels could check their spelling prior to printing the packaging as these are represented as “Sever hatches” No big deal as it really doesn’t affect the package contents. It would be nice if they threw in a couple drainage grates for the same price.
Verdict: A nice small item that will add extra detail to any diorama depicting an urban street scene.
