introduction

Archer Fine Transfers has been focusing recently on releasing sets of decals for specific vehicle kits, and less on generic sets. In the case of German soft skins, this is a welcome development. The company already has sets out for the Opel Blitz in both the Tamiya and Italeri versions, and has just released one for Cyberhobby's kit (#6670).

the transfers

The set comes in Archer's usual attractive glassine envelope with stapled-on label and includes:

1 sheet of dry transfers to build four vehicles
1 sheet of Archer wet transfer paper

the review

The irony of this release is that the Cyberhobby kit has apparently sold out and is nearly impossible to get. But if you have the kit in your stash, this is the way to go. First of all, Dragon rarely, if ever, includes dashboard instrument faces in their decal set (their Sd.Kfz.7 series all require AM decal solutions, of which Archer has the best solution). But no waterslide decal can come close to these transfers which have been sized specifically for this kit's instrument bezels.

The transfers were researched from the Wings & Wheels publication Opel Blitz in Detail reviewed by me here), so the accuracy is excellent. While these are dry transfers, even Archer cautions against applying them except with their wet transfers paper that's included.

conclusion

These decals are not generic, so if you have the Italeri or Tamiya versions of the Blitz, I recommend you purchase the specific set. There are rumors that Dragon plans to re-release the kit in a more generic version at a later date, so this set might find renewed life then.
SUMMARY
Highs: Superb quality and a system making them easy to apply. Tailored to the Cyberhobby kit.
Lows: Pricey, but perfection comes at a cost.
Verdict: Highly-recommended. No water-slide decal can match these.
