We first reported on this new Nashorn in October of 2009, and we can now show you a preview of this new kit by AFV Club. We have shot about 70 photos of the sprues sent to us. The detail level and small size of some of the parts is truly amazing. It certainly appears that manufacturers like AFV Club are not going to let other kit makers corner the market on super-small-parts in their models. Take a good look at what's coming when this kit is formally released this summer. And of course we will have a full review of the production kit when that happens. This kit came sans decals, instructions and box.

We would like to especially thank AFV Club for providing us with this early release of their new Nashorn.

UPDATE: A build review of this kit can be found here.

About Jim Starkweather (staff_Jim)
FROM: NEW HAMPSHIRE, UNITED STATES

I started building models in 1971 when I was 6. My first model was a 1/32 P-40 Warhawk. Revell I believe. From there I moved onto the standard cars, Apollo spacecraft, and other kid orientated kits. I don't know what got me started on Armor. I must have seen a Monogram tank kit one day and said "Mom...

Why God Why do we need another Nashorn? ...on the other hand, I said the same thing when HB issued their Pershings, and was pleasantly surprised. I guess it'll be the default kit when Dragon forgets where their Nashorn/Hornisse molds are. That's not so bad.

Alan, Good catch. I remembered reading Terry's comments on PMMS that the gun was still forthcoming. I have forwarded this on to Bill Plunk so he can have an early look. Thanks, Jim

Ted Hayward has received the full kit from AFV Club and is working on a built review of the kit that includes the gun. Hopefully he will have that posted soon so the full kit can be evaluated. To avoid duplication, Ted's review has made any review I would have conducted redundant since he's got the complete kit to look at vs. the pieces-parts I received.
