Introduction
I needed a set of figures to complement my recently acquired Dragon Stug III G, and I really found it.
Tank figures are very high on my personal ranking and this set is no exception. I just would like them to be more available especially on this neck of the woods. But the Internet has it's advantages and one of them is buying from anywhere in the world at any time of the day. Strangely I ended up buying them from a shop less than 30 minutes from my home ;)

Kit-box and Contents
Tank's figure set German Stug Crew, Winter 1942-43 (T-35028) Includes two complete body figures depicting a Stug crew during Winter around 1942-43

Carefully padded with bubble wrap, the box includes two zip lock bags with the figures. The first really apparent thing are the cast blocks to which the body and heads of the figures area attached. They are big... The part number is cast in these blocks and the quality of the figures is immediately evident. Both figures consist of 5 parts packed in individual bags. Head, body, arms and delicate radio headphones.

The figures
The casting quality is very good. The detail is above average in every respect. The foldings on clothes is very realistic and transmits that heavy look so typical of winter clothing. They are cast in dark gray resin with a little shine (a nightmare for flash photos) and have no signs of air bubbles, flash or even seams.

The stance of these two figures is thought for inserting them in the hatches of the Stug, but all the detail is there down to the trousers and boots. All is finely engraved and sculpted.

The facial expressions are very good, and I swear I could see a worried look on the commander (I would look worried too, if I was on the eastern front in 1942). Eye and mouth detail is one of the best I had the opportunity to see in any figures that I've built (not many, but all of them from reputable brands).

An excellent set for a diorama scene or just to complement a build as was my case.

Final Thoughts
I was aware of the existence of Tank for a while and I even bought one kit (Dragon T34/85) so that I could create a scene with the Russian tank riders set of figures that Tank produces, but they are hard to find. Almost all the online shops I found that carry Tank products don't have them in stock. Amazingly the shop where I found these figures (and bought them) is in Portugal and a mere 30 minutes from my home. The price is perfectly in line with what I would expect if ordered from abroad and very similar with offers from other top manufacturers.

Many thanks to VL Models for their excellent service.
SUMMARY
Highs: Casting quality, sculpting detail.
Lows: If there is a low, is the picture on the box. Maybe it could have better painted figures. After all that's the first image the buyer has of the product and the image on the box needs to make justice to what's inside

About António Pires Preto (antoniop)
FROM: LISBOA, PORTUGAL

I started to build 1/72 planes a long time ago. And stopped a long time ago... My hobby has been Radio Control for the past 14 years. But after a while I got fed up with the "competitive" side of the hobby and decided to look at static kits once again. 1/72 was out of the question and armor seemed...

Thanks for the review. It's always nice to see how my competitions cast their figures. The quality of the figures is just outstanding! Taesung from Alpine

oooh the sculptor of my other favorite brand. You are partly responsible for my kit stash. I liked your OIF crew so much that I bought it right away. Then I had to find the tanks to put them. I started to buy more tanks, and more figures. I have (1.5 year) 22 tanks in the stash and I don't know how many figures. When I said they compared well with high quality releases from other manufacturers I was exactly thinking of the figures I bought from Alpine. When I look at these figures, with this level of detail, I just try to imagine how it is possible to sculpt a thing of this size.... And I can't figure out how. I'll keep trying to make justice to the work of the sculptor. Hopefully I can.

Mike, Modelpoint USA is listed as distributor for Tank and Alpine Miniatures. Tank Miniatures is also a site sponsor. LINK I believe this is what you wanted. Jeff PS: When you check out the site use the new products link, otherwise you are shown out of stock items.

Great review Antonio, I need a crew for my Stug III F, also from Dragon. I just wanted to know where the tank rider figures are from, they look really good as well. Keep on reviewing! John
