Jagdpanzer IV L/48

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction
The next in our series of quick catch ups of what Eduard have released recently is this, a two fret set of PE for the Dragon Jagdpanzer IV L/48.

the set
As mentioned, this is a two fret set of PE, one being twice the size of the other, and a set of instructions that run to four sides.

Eduard begin this set by offering new rear mudflaps, the kit ones needing careful removal. Next up are two new ring brackets for the exhaust, again, careful removal of the moulded ones from Dragon is required. A new strip joint is provided for the rear wall, and also idler adjustment levers, and some small retaining chains, which always look a bit flat at this scale. Eduard provide a new jack block and straps for this set, and the block itself comes in three PE parts that require folding and have a fine wood grained surface. Not convinced about this, but of course you also get all the necessary mounting brackets etc.

A new rear Notek convoy light is provided, although of course you'll have to provide your own short piece of rod to make the light itself if you choose the late version, Eduard providing both early and late lights. For the rear and front we get new spare track link brackets, and also a new set of front fenders which only require the removal of the moulded on hinge detail from Dragon.

Of course as you'd expect, all the on-vehicle tools receive new toolclamps, and there are a lot of these! And again, of course, you'll have to remove all the moulded detail from Dragon, although some, such as the track wrench receive PE replacements. New covers for the engine intakes and a whole load of detail for the inside of the hatches completes the set.

SUMMARY
Eduard have produced this set for the Dragon Jagpanzer IV L/48, kit number 9021. Included are lot's of details such as new tool clamps and brackets, with not much surgery being required on the base kit to install it all!
