PE Schurzen for Panther G Late

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction
Dragon recently launched their 'Smart Kit' series with the release of the Panther Ausf.G. The series turned out to be a success, offering as it did, easy to assemble, accurate kits with the minimum of photo etch necessary to produce an accurate miniature. This has left the door open however, for the aftermarket sector to produce the extra photo etch that modeller's may want. Such is the case here with Eduard producing a set of photo etched schurzen for the Panther Ausf.G, kit number 6268.

the set
the set consists of two normal-sized photo etched frets, one of which contains six schurzen plates with two rectangular mounting holes, and the other contains four plates with holes in slightly different positions, along with all the necessary mounting brackets themselves and replacement fenders for the Panther.

The instructions in this set are contained on two sides. There is no surgery necessary on the base kit, since the fenders supplied as photo etch by Eduard are direct replacements for the plastic Dragon parts. Although Dragon also supply the mounting brackets for the fenders in plastic, these too are discarded and replaced by Eduard parts. Once the fenders are constructed and installed, the plates are simply positioned over the fenders, and then small tabs on each bracket are simply bent at right angles to hole them in place.

in conclusion
A very nice set of schurzen which, if your references call for them to be fitted will certainly look effective! Highly recommended!

Very Nice! I wish this had been available when I did mine - The dragon mounting brackets are quite thick.
