PE Tiger I fenders DAK

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction
Although the new range of 1/48th offerings from Tamiya are superb in terms of quality and accuracy, there is always going to be something that can be improved by using PE, simply because of the nature and limits of injection moulding. Hauler therefore have steadily increased their range of PE sets in this scale, which will allow the modeller in this scale to bring their diminutive replica's up to a show standard!

quick lookThis small Hauler set comes as a very small sheet of instructions, and a single fret of brass coloured PE. Offered are full fenders, front, back and sides, such as would be fitted to a very early Afrika Korps Tiger I initial production. Be warned though, some of these parts are very thin and delicate, but this does mean that they will look absolutely superb when fitted correctly!

Soldering skills, or an Etch Grip from the Small Shop EU will, I think, be a must when fitting this set, simply for things such as th re-enforcing vanes on the rear mudflaps. Of course, the big advantage of using a set such as this is the realistic damage you'll be able to impart to the fenders should you wish to.

in conclusion
A quick look then, at a beautiful little set from Hauler which should make your Tamiya Tiger I stand head and shoulders above the rest on the competition table! Recommended, and keep an eye out for a full in-depth review coming soon!

SUMMARY
Hauler continue to extend their 1/48 range of PE sets, this time for the Tamiya Tiger I Initial Production, Afrika Korps. A small set, but beautifully produced, this should set your completed model apart.

Looks nice Vinnie, I have the full set for the T34 and the JagdPanther and the Hauler sets offer phenomenal value for money. Mind you for some parts I found that I would need to update my spectacles as they are minute. John

These African Tigers had 4 short and 4 long side skirts. The difference is visible once you look for it. The ones in this Hauler set are all the same length. David

For a minute there I thought Vinnie had come back to Armorama. Phew
